just installed this card in my rig and have been doing some testing card seems like a very nice upgrade from my old 580! ive heard this card runs quite cool but mine was hitting 80C in grid autosport is this ok?

thanks Baz

Anything under 95 and your fine, a review of the card had it at 70 while gaming and 77 with furmark.

Nvidia have got this thing called GPU Boost 2.0 that overclocks your card as far is it can while staying within the 80 C mark.

If you download HWMonitor/Afterburner you can easily check the card's clockspeeds during gaming, once it reaches that 80 Degrees. Also have a look at the fan speed. Basically, at stock clocks and 40-50% fanspeed is good, but for instance my card overclocks itself from 1050 to 1202MHz at 60% fan speed, while staying within that 80 Degrees the card sets for itself.

That said, 80 degrees really isn't anything to worry about as it is well within the thermal limits of the card (I think this limit is around 100 degrees). It won't really start thermal throttling until it reaches 90-95 C.

Hi mate, not sure if this is right this temp. I have mine MSI 970 Gaming Edition overclocked and never going more then 64C with auto fan, fans never spin more then 42%.
My settings on MSI Afterburner :
- Core Voltage 0
- Power Limit (%) +110
- Core Clock (MHz) +200
- Memory Clock (MHz) +500
- Fan Speed (%) Auto

This settings give me Core MHz on 1655 and Memory MHz on 4005 all stable. Just play with this card and check temps, all I know is this card on stock and overclocked NOT should run that hot, check reviews on YT and see other peoples. Can be problem with thermal material inside not sure. If you running games on 80C I will send back and replace for new one.

Good Luck

The cards have different coolers so you can't really compare them.

i use OcUk 970 ref and while gaming it stays at 77C, and it is completely silent. And Fan never goes over 40%.

The OP is running a 970 with a Titan style blower cooler, You are running a 970 with after market cooling ;)

I very nearly got one of those..... ended up going with the Galax infin8 black edition instead.
how are you getting on with it? I was really worried about noise ( memorys of my old 260s screaming). I was really torn between the 2 and i only got the Galax one because my 670 was a KFA and was bullet proof.

tbh haven't really tested it too much yet been very busy with work :( seems pretty quiet to me no coil whine and I love the look of it though!
