Ahhh, Australia We might aswell be Amish. Although I live in a Tiny country town and my internet is still faster than 73% of Aus
Lol @ <50 Miles from perth. Its 210Km so more like 130Miles

I never realised that Australia had bad internet, but seeing your speeds being so far above the average has surprised me somewhat.
What with Australia being just as advanced as The US, UK etc. i'm surprised the internet infrastructure hasn't been 're-jigged' yet.
And sorry to hear about your ping during a storm do you feel the difference, when it happens?

Edit: I just got 7.3Kb/s down, that's a new record I've never seen it go above 5Mb/s

Server is in Reykjavik so it's about 55 miles. Optics FTW

I am supposed to get 50mb so I am quite happy with getting more.

We're paying for 40 down/8 up, so i'm fairly happy with my speeds. I care more about upload because I often play on consolololols, where P2P hosting systems ensure I get the edge over others - an edge I need because I'm quite terrible!

student digs are not strictly "home" as i bet you pay a massively subsidised rate and therefore doesn't reflect "real living" lol.
that said would like some of your 6.75mb/s upload, would make some of my jobs sooo much easier

paying for 100Mb down / 10Mb up, so its pretty much maxxed out atm. Waiting on the local uprgades to be carried out and then it should be 120 / 12
