OC3D Game servers in need of some lovin'

Hey guys,

While most of the OC3D game servers seem to be doing pretty well at the moment with the UT3 ones both full a lot of the time and the COD4 #1 and CSS DM server also keeping up a good pace there are a couple of servers that have died a death and require input from you guys on how resuscitate them.

Counter-Strike Server #2 - Currently Gungame and always emptry

Call of Duty 4 Server #2 - No idea what that is anymore!

How would you like to see these servers re/configured?

Of course if there are better games out that need servers, maybe we could donate thse to that cause.
 
Back on topic, replace the cod4 server with L4D and for CSS (my game of choice) either get it running real, classic css or replace it with a kick ass Age of Chivalry server for some fun with swords :D
 
I suggest for cod4 server:

COD4 Headquarters, No Martyrdom and Tubes, No three nades, hardcore, killcam, 24man

occasional fun nights, ie, knives only

or

Put COD5 on instead, which would have rotating War and Capture the flag modes at least for now as they are incredible XP gaining machines or just have a for fun public server with TM DeathMatch on. these seem to always attract people (same server rules as above for cod4). And i guarantee you ill be a very frequent visitor there :P

For css server:

i suggest to install TM Deathmatch mod, and put dust1, dust2, office and maybe some other more appropriate maps as well. These attract people very much.
 
CS:S server 1 is deathmatch.

Server 2 was broken every time I tried it. The bots were stuck in two doorways. I guess the nav was off.
 
Am I the only one that thinks CSS could just be played normally? DM, TC, RPG, GG and all the other crap is not CSS as it was intended. CSS is a shoot and dead game of tactics (sometimes). Why not have it doing the usual cycle (d2, office, assault) and throw in some maps that are custom for a laugh. Perhaps a score system that we could tag up with on forum?

As for COD4 its a game that does what it says on the tin and thats it. Ressurrect? No leave to die and replace with TF2 or L4D.
 
Your UT3 server is almost always populated.... Just a shame its with arsefaces who stack teams and constantly vote for Biohazard. More admins needed.

I was looking into that last night, but when you can only have 4 players (max 8 I think) it kinda seems a waste of all the hassle.

Yeah I think the only thing with a stock CSS server is that you can't just set one up and get it populated. People who play stock CSS already favourite servers and its hard to tear them away.

TF2 is an idea i was toying with, but as I don't have it and have never played it, i'd need some guidance on what's hot and what's not.
 
I personally love stock css servers and cannot bare deathmatch etc..

If you put up a good map rotation (dust, dust 2, office etc.) then it should go well (with zblock and enforced rates) blah blah

And the cod4..it needs a good map rotation (no killhouse lol), mods to make it no nade spamming, more kills for airstrike etc. and also can we have rotating game modes? IDK if that would work

Tis true both Molotov and I frequent UKCS servers daily (bit less for Molotov he aint hardcore :P)

I would be happy to frequent and OC3D server regularly. The bad bit with UKCS is its 64slot and democratic so you get idiots choosing d2 which then leads to a camp off because it is a 64slot. On 20 slots d2 is brilliant. Whne UKCS goes to ****e maps I'm always scouting for a fun place to hang for 15mins while they do their idiot thing.

As for populaiton with a d2, office, assault map cycle you will be full easily. Even my home server ran them and with pings in the ~120 mark no one cared. May I suggest a team reversal command or plugin to help too.
 
If you put up a TF2 server that would get plenty of attention- when I do game online which is usually most nights when Uni aint givin me too much work or I'm not out, that's where it's at. It's just great fun, because no matter how good someone is they can't just dominate unfairly as each and every class has it's strengths and weaknesses.
 
OK guys, for the moment I have:

- Taken down CSS Server #2 (Gungame) until we decide what to do. TF2 maybe?

- Re-enabled punkbuster on CoD4 #2 and changed it to a Domination server with full map rotation.

- Put all servers back in our name to show we're back in charge.

if we have 2 servers to play with

Either

COD4...OC3D owned...full punkbuster etc. and mod it so theres no 3x nade, no marty etc. and make sure its in the server name/description (also say its uk). A good map rotation, not too big (24man?) and i would personally prefer a mix of TDM, domination and sabotage (??)

CSS server...back to the days of a good rotation server, zblock, mani admin and a good popular map rotation - 24 man max (make sure in the server name its uk, 100tic and whatever)

TF2...havent really gotten into it much but id play it a lot more if there was an oc3d server...not sure what people look for in terms of settings tho
