I smell some1 doing a review in the future ...

Fingers crossed after ASUS do their thang at Computex. At the moment I believe the one pictured is the only one they've got

16 phase? wtf? Hi, and welcome to unnecessary town?

The bios idea is nice, looks like if you totally **** one up it'll be a very easy swap out too. look like the old 8 pin PICs we used to use in school.:p

Im guessing this boards going to have a price something equivalent to 'Your soul' taped to it though :-/

Bios chip2

:wavey:Not to sure about this chip, doesnt look like it been properly placed in the chip holder. Lets it down abit. But the board does look amazing:wavey:

Great, all theat extra tweakery and they still don't have the bloody common sense to use SATA ports that support cable clips.

Just added a second RAID to my rig yesterday and it was a pain in the bloody arse. Stupid sideways ports that will release the cable if it's even slightly pushed - try getting 6 cables in there while it's still inside a case.

DDR3 support (Maximus II Extreme...)

No news of a version with DDR3 support? Asus seem to have skipped that on the Rampage (their ROG X48 board), also - the only options for DDR3 being the ultra expensive X48 P5E3 Premium...the even more expensive nvidia 790 Striker II Extreme, or the X38 Maximus Extreme - which seems to be the best option for price, since it performs as well as the X48 by all accounts - but seems to have disappeared off Asus' and gradually most retailers websites.

I know there's also the "consumer" P45 motherboard coming out from Asus, which is on overclockers.co.uk for preorder (£158 for something that matches motherboards £100 more?!) which supports DDR3 but lets face it - the low profile and black colourscheme of the Maximus does look rather good (not to mention the CMOS reset buttons and other ROG features....)

Nordic Hardware have a review of the P5Q3 Deluxe, sounds good.

Does anyone know why you'd pick a more expensive X48 motherboard over one of these if you don't intend to use two graphics cards?

I freakin h8 SATA cables, period!
How can you hate them? IDE cables = management nightmare and they break easily.

This board looks crazy though. Will there be any review of the AMD Crosshair II?

That looks great, really like the removable NB sink so you can leave on the board the mosfet an SB cooling and water block the NB. Great. tbh, the mosfets don't get hot enough to warrant water blocks, only the NB and maybe the SB.

I'd only put water blocks on what you push more voltage into.
