Ok, so since no one has made this yet I figured I would start.

I guess the starting point here would be for users to update their 3D printers so we can see who has what.

That way, any tips or advice, you may know who to go to if you share the same model etc.

The other goal I thought of was to simple have fun. Post your models, ideas, Fusion 360/Solidwork designs, or gcodes and STL files. Lets just share.

Maybe someone has done something you find useful and want to copy or modify to suit your own needs. Obviously you have sites already like Thingiverse, but this is more aimed at our small OC3D community. I'm new to this but learning :)

And any moderators can step in and update this list if its worth updating at all

Printer Models

Warchild - Ender 5 Pro
WYP - Ender 3 Pro
Bartacus - Ender 5 Plus
hmmblah - Monoprice Maker Select Plus (Wanhao clone)

Preferred Filaments
Warchild - 3DNET PLA filament
------------Prima - Standard PLA
hmmblah - Monoprice PLA

Preferred slicer
Warchild - Ultimaker Cura //preferred choice due to generation of support structures
hmmblah - Ultimaker Cura

Preferred design software
Warchild - Fusion 360 //Versatile software with plenty of courses and tutorials
hmmblah - Fusion 360 (I've only modified designs)

Mods
hmmblah - Added Z-Stabilizers, New Y carriage, Glass bed, Spool holder

I am just throwing things together at the moment to try and provide some basic information for those who may be wanting to jump into 3D printing but do not know where to start. At least then searching on the above products in Google can shed some light on good options.

And last thing for me. A spool holder for a monster 3kg spool of PLA
The silver part is actually Metal. I didnt like the original rollers so I used up some tubing I had spare.

Oh wow. Where did you get the models for the pokemon? They are very well crafted.

Oh I have a big printer alright, with some big problems. I should have left it alone. Ever since I "upgraded" it, it's been hell. My aluminum extruder upgrade is currently 'troubled':

I've recently gotten a new extruder myself. It's a dual-drive one though. No idler.

Ok, I'm at a loss. Before I do something stupid (eg spend nutty money), how do I figure how what went wrong with that extruder? What would cause a print to work for damn near a full day, then go bananas and do an omnomnomnom on that filament 2/3rds of the wait through?!?

Someone needs to print a TTL mascot figurine, 1 that sits on a GPU would look immense with the signature thumb up, That would be next level OC3D fandom right there ^_^

This is one of the best ideas that has emerged on this forum. I would love to have that. :D

Two sources,

Snorlax from here:

Default model didnt slice and print well. You need to re-orientate almost all of the models. The inital attempt at normal speed/settings I did was poor so I opted for a fine detail 0.1mm layer and 50mm/s for the body.

Also I set to generate support structures for touching baseplate. It meant the build time went from 5 hours to 15hours, but the finish was perfect. And I am very proud of the airbrushed finish.

The other one I forget the name of. Jolteon I think? from here:

You need to cycle through the files and download the one you want.

I can't really see what happened that well based on your image. Is the filament just twisting around the gear?

Is your spring tension ok?

Sure your bowden tube isnt blocked? seems like the extruder isnt feeding the filament and its just grinding on the line judging by the powdered plastic?

Yeah, it could be a blockage, or your bed level might be off. If the bed is too high, the filament has nowhere to go and it causes a mess at the extruder.

The gears actually BROKE the filament. Hard to get a good pic of because of bad lighting, but those are little bits of black filament you're seeing there, not mouse turds. :D I'm ripping the entire hot end down tonight, since I know I went wrong somewhere with the last few mods (extruder upgrade, capricorn tube).

Tubing upgrades can be a nightmare if done incorrectly. If the cuts on the hot end of the tube are wrong, it can cause clogging problems.

Is your spring giving too much tension? Strange that you filament would break. I have some bad filament that can have that problem. I don't think that I will ever buy Geeetech again. Their black filament had a lot of issues early on my ender 3. Haven't tried many filaments yet, but my white Sunlu stuff is great.

Have gotten some capricorn tubing myself, and a dual gear extruder. Not sure when I wil install it though.

Wait. if your filament is breaking, that could be the filament to blame. Maybe its absorbed moisture or has become brittle.

Agreed, could just be bad filament. I have some Black Geeetech here that is very fragile. Try a different filament and see if the same thing happen.

It could also have gotten clogged, and maybe broke via back-pressure? Not sure, haven't torn it down yet, since I got busy with work and needed to take a night off last night, no work, no stress. I will resolve this today damn it!

Yeah the filament I've been questioning since the beginning. But since I introduced that when I did the extruder mods, who knows. At one point I had a space heater pointing directly at the back of the printer, where the spool is, one of those heat-dish thingies. But I stopped doing that since I figured baking the filament while it's feeding probably doesn't help. :D
