Nvidia's RTX 3070 will launch on October 15th - RTX 3080 Review Embargo Delayed

More BS. They announce a product, it lands with every reviewer and then they say that Covid has delayed it.

They did the exact same thing with Turing, too. So they could hide the gains between the 10 series and 20 series.

And there wasn't any Covid then.

Also, that power connector on that 3070 is awful.

Yep, Nearly every reviewer has shown they have had their 3080's for over a week already.

Yup and every single one of them have posted an unboxing.

I have never, in all of my years, witnessed so much hype and fact twisting with a launch as this. All of a sudden the 3080 has gone from being 80% faster than a 2080 to 125% etc. It's almost like some sort of Covid cabin syndrome has kicked in.

In reality? I think it's quite simple. They didn't know when AMD was going to respond. They sort of have, and now they want to hide their benchmarks until the day before you can order the card. Probably because they are worried that if people see the performance and power use now they will absolutely wait for AMD to show their cards.

So instead it's all smoke and mirrors.

I'm quite a humble guy, and tbh? I love being proved wrong. I do, because it makes me feel the miserable grumpy git I usually am. I will always hold my hands up to a screw up too. However? the sad fact is that every time a launch happens I am usually always right. I wish I wasn't tbh, as it just leaves an even worse taste in my mouth.

But going back before all of the hype and BS? 320w TDP is simply crazy. It really is. Just like, absolutely insane.

I'm looking for at least 30% increase over my 1080Ti, if not I'll wait. However after seeing SoTTR on the Digital Foundry video running highest quality setting and still getting 60 FPS while RTX was on is worth the upgrade in my opinion. (FPS counter visible underneath the text on top left)

to be honest everyone who believs nvidia and preorders just because they believe what jensen told.... is a moron.

if you have money to burn and be happy with a 3080 no matter what... fine.

but i have become very sceptical about nvidia over the past decade.
i buy only nvidia GPU´s.... because of cuda (i am not a gamer).
but i am not a blind fanboy.

also have a look at this moores law is dead video:

i think he could be spot on....

Yeah it all seems like their sort of tricks to me.

I've seen a lot floating around for a while, but this one caught my eye......

Noting -

"Nvidia claims that the RTX 3070 beats the RTX 2080Ti in performance, which means the card should be capable of 1440p high refresh rate gaming and 4k UHD gaming at 60 HZ"

In other words the card, that should really be a 4k card (but if you know you know, it doesn't have enough VRAM) is already being down played as a 1440p high refresh card when the XBSeX is cheaper and capable of 4k at 60hz.

So that's OK right? just do what MLID says there, release ones with higher VRAM. Only as he says (and I already predicted as soon as the spec was released) they are going to cost much more money. They always do.

The 3gb GTX 580 cost more than the 7970.

I agree with what moore's law is dead said in the video in the am, the nvidia design is a lost leader, the cooler costs like $150+ so how is it that Nvidia has pretty much the cheapest card of the bunch, to lost lead to make you think it's better than the average card.

They get early reviews sell a few cards at a loss, then not replenish them they most likely don't want to sell the overpriced cooler design it's just to get that good review'ers viewpoint early on day one.

They will sell out really fast so if you really want one then your going to need luck cause Nvidia most likely want to sell as few as possible, before making everyone buy the AIB versions at a higher price.

imho if you don't get lucky wait for AMD they have something this time around otherwise Nvidia wouldn't be doing things in this manner.

Ok folks. Why the needless conspiracy theories.

There have been some reviewers who have been impacted by shipping delays or have been sent a bad sample that needed to be replaced (or the reviewer had an issue that they thought was the GPU). It is also possible that a high profile reviewer just needed more time. This kind of thing happens.

I know for a fact that Jayz2cents got sent an extra RTX 3080.

Just because X prominent reviewer had an unboxing doesn't mean that all of them had the cards for the same length of time.

Remember that Nvidia has not opened up its RTX 3080 for pre-orders. Reviews will still come out before the product's release.

Real data will exist before pre-orders go live. What is Nvidia hiding? Nothing!

-------------------------------------------------------------

As far as Nvidia's Founders Edition designs go. Remember that Nvidia's AIB partners need to pay Nvidia and then eek out their own profit margins. Add in retailers and their margins, and that is another person in the chain to pay.

For Founders Editions, Nvidia just needs to make a GPU and sell it. This keeps all of their profit for themselves. Founders Editions are only sold through Nvidia, which cuts out both AIB and retailer margins. A lot of that cost goes into premium cooler designs.

Nvidia wants to create a premium brand name for themselves with their Founders Edition models, and old blower-style coolers weren't doing that for them (they were loud). That's why Turing and Ampere have such different cooling solutions. That said, Ampere's cooling upgrades were also mandated by Nvidia's increased TDPs.

Every company is hiding many somethings ;) putting that aside, I find such late delays suspect. At the same time I find that linked video mere conjecture - as many of his videos (he seems very positive toward AMD, though) - yes, I checked out many. I do agree with cards having double the VRAM being inbound soon enough I wonder if I should wait for that because 10GB seems meh at best (I plan to keep it for a few years (I've my 1080 for ca 4.5 years now!)). I'm in no rush to order. Want to see reviews first by a couple of trusted ones.

Well I feel they are not making much profit even with taking out the AIB and Retail but for sure some i mean they are not a charity, as for the reviews delay i don't really think anything out of the norm on that, time will tell but they will sell out within seconds.

I'm not saying they are not good value or good cards, but for me I think waiting is the best move, but sure i know myself and if the money was in the bank i'd be very tempted to get one.

not long to wait for reviews we'll soon know for certain how they perform.

The tinfoil hat nation is growing stronger with every generation on these forums :D

That's the problem with being a sheeple, you've been brainwashed into thinking everything on the internet isn't true, you need to grab the tinfoil cover your head so the satellites can't see you :D

There is no problem with conspiracies or speculation. It's the vitriol that some people spout them with that causes conflict.

Oh dear!!!

Space Invaders with Turing, what free game comes with Ampere.:D
