Nvidia's GTX 1080 and 1070 will support HDR and refresh rates of up to 240Hz thanks to DisplayPort 1.3.

240Hz? I guess the world is full of top gun pilots... Though I can understand it if 240Hz@1080 is necessary for 120Hz@4K.
 
Is there any confirmed info about the regular and founders editions yet ?

I have money burning a hole in my pocket ^_^
 
Either way, hopefully it opens up some doors for nVidia owners in the future. Whether it be official or not.
 
Was only hoping that nVidia owners will be able to use Freesync.

Wasn't even going to consider nVidia and AMD huddling together.
 
If NVIDIA adopted FreeSync it would open up a lot of options. Many people I know are looking at AMD cards because FreeSync monitors are cheaper and more prevalent; in fact a colleague of mine regrets getting a 980 Ti due to this.

I'm waiting for Vega to decide what 4K screen/single GPU combo to pair with my HTPC/Gaming rig so I can get a really good grasp on what the overall cost and performance of each option will be before jumping one way or the other.

If an NVIDIA card will get me better performance and supports FreeSync or I can get a reasonably priced GSync monitor then I'll happily go with a 1080/Ti, however if it's similar to how it is today I'll probably wind up with a Vega/FreeSync combo.

The G-Sync module has it's own benefits over Freesync, PCPER did a test that shows G-Sync goes as low as 1FPS and can have better response times/latency.

Plus if Nvidia supported Freesync then they would lose out quite a bit selling G-Sync modules to monitor manufacturers as more people would go for the cheaper option and that would just be a bad business decision on Nvidia's part.

It's a bit of a chicken/egg situation. Everyone knows G-Sync has it's benefits but for most people it's simply not worth the price bump on the monitor side leading people to go the AMD/FreeSync route. At least if NVIDIA offered FreeSync support you might get people going the NVIDIA/FreeSync route and then pushing into NVIDIA/G-Sync once they can afford it.

Currently it's only the elite that are buying G-Sync monitors, and the elite would continue to use NVIDIA/G-Sync so they won't lose out there.

Couldn't see it happening to be honest as Nvidia have made too much of a fuss over G-Sync to start supporting Freesync, Would be good though.

What? From every source i've seen including them, there has been no distinct differences. If they claim all that, then they are really digging for those results. they are probably all within margin of error, but they are taking those results anyway. I'd like a link to that if you can. Something may have changed but I don't see how unless they have Gsync2.0 or something along those lines.

Ya anything under 30fps in general is terrible, so it's not really a win:p
Heck Freesync goes to 9FPS.. but who cares? That's still terrible:rolleyes:
