Nvidia will talk about a "Next Generation Mainstream GPU" at Hot Chips 2018

Guess my 1080ti will rock on a little longer then.

My XP is going nowhere.

I can already call it now. When Metro comes out the actual RT effects will be so hard to notice it will be like when Dirt 2 came out. It will take a massive performance hit too, and there will be hardly any difference. In fact, some one hacked Dirt 2 and made loads of the lighting effects that DX11 was supposedly doing work on DX10.

I doubt that will happen here, but tbh? until RT becomes the be all and end all I am not interested.

Nvidia have deliberately slowed down the GPU market, and games just don't need all of that power. Recently I built up a rig from spare parts (bought a 10 core 2.5ghz Xeon and put my Fury X in) and I have been ripping up FC5 at 2560x1600 with no issues at all. I guess it is not smashing VRAM so it has been fine and I have played it for 20hrs with no issues at all.

So if I take that, and then consider I have a TXP running 2560x1440 (or 4k DSR) then I just feel "What's the effing point?".

I am interested in RT, but only when the game is ground up RT. Like the whole damn thing. Until then? just not interested at all really.

*walks into a room* "Oh look at this lovely lamp I have that is RT. How amazing"

I think not.

Q3 for NVidia finishes at the end of October, so a paper launch then and actual cards available end of November?

Sounds logical, I'll be in Texas at the time but I'll watch lots of reviews and probably cave and buy a couple when I get back XD

They'll discuss it, not actually even paper launch it dear lord ha ha. For an actual launch Nvidia always holds its own public event (hot chips is closed) and by the CEO himself, not some dude. This also creates the possibility that they launch before 20 August - although that's highly doubtful due to GDDR6 mass production.
This is way, way overdue with Pascal being over 2.5 years old by the actual launch time.

Anyway, I've decided to wait for the Ti as I can't be bothered with another in-between card until the Ti.

For me I think they will be coming in September with the new Tomb Raider game bundled with them.

nVidia posted on Twitter last month or the month before about the new Tomb Raider game and I called it on Twitter then that, that is when we will see the new card's from nVidia.

Come back and friggin tell me that when you have a heart attack.

It cost my aunt $38,000.

That's to do with medical though which is a completely different subject, Although when I had to have surgery in Germany which also has roughly the same setup as the US in 2010 the grand total with after care came to €50,000 but my insurance which I paid around €30 a month for completely covered it.

Not different subject. It is all intertwined dude. Why? because your taxes in "rip off Britain" pay for your healthcare.

So yeah, a graphics card may be cheaper in the USA but you will pay at least $500 per month for a health insurance plan, *with* co pays. So you will co pay $100 to go to the docs, $500 for an ambulance, $15 min per prescription and etc.

Trust me, if you ever have any issues with your health you will be better off here. Why do you think loads of Brits move to Spain, but come back when they are in their 60s?

As for Germany? well, you are clearly better off in "rip off Britain" there, too.

So far my experience with the health service in the UK has been extremely negative, In regards to Germany, The living standards are so much higher over there, What would be considered a middle class lifestyle over here is your standard working class lifestyle over there, Things in general being so much cheaper and in general everything is way way more ahead there than the UK, Even the health service, Yes I know you have to pay $30 a month, But the service is so much better and I can make all these comparisons as I have worked in Germany a lot and I go over several times a year.

The surgeon that operated on me was from Manchester, He said with the surgery and aftercare I needed I quite likely would not have pulled through if I was in England, This isn't the fault of the English people though, This is the fault of the people in charge of the NHS who are slowly and sneakily hiving it off to their friends, Getting ready for privatisation, As is evident with the many nurses being laid off, Over 40,000 nurses short yet more managers being put on the payroll over the last 5+ years.

For a relaxed atmosphere I prefer England, But if you really want a damn good quality of life, Germany is the way to go.
