Nvidia to phase out 8800GTS in favour of the new 9800GTX

Its been reported that Nvidia are set to kill production of the 8800GTS in support of pushing out the 9800GTX in its place.

Not really any skin of NVs nose. It's the same dam chip they're making really. Just the OEMs stopping putting one name on the stickers/box and put on another.

Bar the cards size i think this is a good idea. Its far too long imo.

OcUK have just started to flog off there Point Of View ones for £80 for the 320mb and £100 for the 640mb.

I have the 320mb and its a great card if only i had an SLi board i would jump at getting another even if i do hate SLi!

EDIT

Just noticed this going for £53 which is very very tempting... but just to go SLi... urgh do i really want all that trouble again and would i really see the performance gains for the extra £150 it would cost?!
