Nvidia issues official statement about RTX 4090 power cable issues

So GamersNexus does the leg work.
I'm not a huge fan of GN, I think they could get to the point a lot quicker but like to stretch things out.

But they did some good work on this.

They always do a good work, if you don't like you data you can always just skip to the conclusion and/or to the averaged charts like I do.

I'm sure whoever likes to see in detail everything loves how detailed their presentation is and we should at least give them credit for that. And I won't lie, sometimes I am interested in a given chart and I go in there looking for it.

TL.DR - Remember you can always skip content, but you can never find data that has not been published.

i find it way more annoying when reviewers seem to be blinded by getting stuff for free.

ending reviews of obscene priced GPU´s with "what´s not to like?"...... :D

Agreed. Steve is VERY long winded indeed. However I just jump to his conclusions.

However his videos on this issue are quite informative.

My take on this is just that Nvidia adopted a very poorly made connector and there HAS to be improvements in the very near future....which is also quite true.

In total fairness Johnny Guru called it out way before GN did. Problem is JG is an old school hero and thus many of the kids around now have no idea who he is.

But aye, around two weeks before this video hit JG summed it all up in one sentence. Without all of that waffle in the voice that makes me want to die inside, and without giving himself a polish and trying to sell junk.

Hilarious situation
The media train jumping on Nvida bad, cable makers bad, we want justice

oh its a user error.....

In everyones defence, in the 20+ years i have been building this is the first time i have come across a cable not being socketed correctly actually melting the connection.

Remember the old days where your bios would refuse to boot when no FDD was detected all because you'd bent the IDE cable that little too much? no smoke though

I actually had in my 8800GTS days a gpu fry because my single 6 pin connector wasnt in fully. It actually shorted out. Don't ask me how, but it had melted not only the connector but the pcb on the card took damage too. I blamed the absurdly cheap non branded PSU I had at the time. Ever since then, I got paranoid that I needed to hear the connector click in place. And considering the power draw on these cards are nothing compared to nowadays, it shook my confidence with building my own cases for a while.

Only 50 affected Worldwide.

That is actually quite appalling.

Even if the cable is not plugged in fully it should be designed not to work rather than start melting.

If Nvidia was a chinese owned company, the USA would have stripped their cards from the shelves and there would be a massive product recall.
