Recommendations for the best bang for buck agp card available atm. "Top of the range" not required, just something £1xx and hopefully bags of memory.

If purchased it will replace a Gigabyte 6600GT clocked @ 550/1200, that runs real well unless u try the new splintercell >.<

Preferably with a silent heat thingy.

Yeah, I looked at those, they`re pushing £180-190 w/fan solution.

Now my question would be this. Would there be a world of difference between the 7800GS and lets say a 7600GS(GT..) [that ship around the £90-£115 mark]. 512m and even a silent pipe gigabyte one for £80 that seems stripped down ?!!??!

Figuring that almost the same price difference ontop of the 7800gs, plus small amount of bucks, comes a g80 (~£330, not agp tho).

Confuzed ?

Yeah, I'd stick by your 6600gt for a bit until you can move up to pci-e and get an ass kickin card!

I didn't see a super amazing jump I expected from my overclocked 6600gt agp to my stock 7800gt pci-e 256mb...

Thanx for the input guyz, I appreciate it. U`re pretty much echoing my thoughts with the suggestions I think.

@Fragmeister - 6800GT.. hmm I think if I`m going to get a stop-gap card, I may makesure it breaks into the 7000, I like the x6xxx builds, never got an x8xx, so maybe it`ll be a

-up between a 7600 and 7800 - although the 7800s seem overpriced for agp technology. Memory will be a question too, alot of media apps (which this pc will turn into once I`ve gotten a pci-e based mobo) like u to have mucho memory for their bad programming sake. lol.

@jiffz - I`m looking at the way the 6600GT I`ve got atm from the point of view u`ve suggested - it clocks really well, and performs very well too, for what it is, plus the vivo aspect. It`s possibly the lack of memory (128m >.< ) it has that`s pushing me towards a newer card, even as a stop-gap b4 pci-e. I think a card will have to be a solid performer to beat this one matching like for like agp vS pci-e. It`s a great card imo.

@Kemp - yeah I`ve seen some of those 7600s and they`re dirt cheap - quite like what u`d want to fill a hole b4 u jump from agp boards to pci-e. If I can find one with mucho memory and a sexeh price, it may be what I plum for.

Thanx again.

( O o u can`t say tos s ?!?!)

Wirelessly posted (LG Fusic: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4719/1378; en; U; ssr))

6800gt ass rapes 6600gt though :(

Any reason its gotta be nVidia?

X1600Pros are dam fine and avalible in AGP flavour

If not 6800GT ftw.

Ham I don`t know what it is about Ati cards, but I just can`t stand the way they work. This includes thier drivers, utils and everything >.< Almost get a feeling like everything is black taped together or something.

U guyz reckon a 6800GT would be a good move as opposed to a 7600 ? (only asking now coz the site I currently have a basket open at has it`s 7600GT(s) oos)
