NVIDIA G9x 9800 Picture and 8800GTS 640MB Developments

Nvidia better be planning on unlocking my stream processors :(

Edit: I imagine some GTX owners will be slightly miffed that the gap between the GTS and GTX is now small.

other sites are saying that the card in the picture is the 8800GT,

ugh thats gay, that extra stream processors are added

In the name of consolidation b4 their emphasis fully shifts to G9x stuff.

That G8x spec will be what they are going forward whilst they dev other stuffs.

If u feel u`r drivers aren`t ~that~ good for the G8x atm, I don`t think they`ll improve as soon as the first G9x hits the market. They`ll just be "supported" - lovely term nVidia use.

For the most part, most people I know G8x-wise are doing great/superb with their drivers etc.

In terms of being griped about the streams... whilst I understand where u`r coming from, I think this is almost normal for cards. Today it`s streams, b4 it`s been other things.

Consolidated G9x cards when it becomes their turn may have all DDR4 or something similar.. it`s how it goes.

More G9x newsy please please please, I got like 5 weeks >.<

Yup, the pictured card is rumoured to be the 8800GT as the article states.

Rast - reading around 8800GT due Nov 12th. High end flavours 30-40 days later (mid/end Dec 07)

I`m gonna get screwed. Can`t u have a word and get the better cards for Nov12 ?

ffs

I know I should have dropped the extra £80 on the GTX!

I can't wait for the new GTX :D

Just fixed some grammer errors - my bad. Rushing at work.

Its not like theya re going to chance ur processors from 98 to w/e. Itll just be a new cards released like,y 8800gto or something IDK.

Im seriously thinking of getting the 8800gt will be dman useful and by the looks of it, its going to get higher clocks and compete with GTS.

WIll still likely go with a EVGA 8800gtx and a WC block though.. since it doesnt void EVGA's warrenty...

Also, isnt the new "gtx" a dual 65nm GTX card?? Atleast thats what Ive been hearing. Havent seen a single ruimour of a new high end card that isnt a double one. Bost ATI and Nvidia seem to be going for it. I dont see why not since if they wanted quad sli's limits are lifted with DX10. So itll be a pretty good eprformance boost for every game. (or should, theoretically)

Yes these cards have the extra steam processors and your 8800GTS's dont. But i also heard that these bad boys come with a $400 (US) speculative price range.

So you might not wanna get so teed off about this. Your 8800GTS 640mb's pay off in the end for keeping some extra cash in your wallet.

Clocks look promising though

According to various sources, the Geforce 8800GT also known as G92 will work at 600MHz for the core and 1.8GHz for the memory. The reference score for this card in 3DMark06 is 10,769.

Clocks might get a boost, but that depends on the performance of the Radeon HD 2950PRO. The Mobile01 web site posted a picture of the 8800GT card. You can see that the card has a single slot cooling solution.

The launch date for this card is rumored to be October 29th as we reported earlier.

ALSO, its not code named G92 or G anything anymore. This is the D8E model.

Nvidia changed up their codename AGAIN. (Lameness)

And im guessing according to that, your 8800GT will support DX10.1 and PCI-E2.0.

TekAmock:
VR-Zone reports that the upcoming GeForce 8800 GT has 112 stream processors like the new GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB SKU. They also report that its shader clock is running at 1.5GHz. It looks like there is a shortage of GTX cores but plenty of GTS cores going around that didn't quite make it as a GTX. So if you launch a new product that is faster than a 8800GTS, no one will buy the more expensive GTS unless you up its stream processor count for higher performance. Also with a 320-bit memory interface, it certainly perform better at high resolutions and with lots of AA/AF/HDR. This way Nvidia can still get rid of the inventory. In related news, Nvidia has revised the current GeForce 8600 GTS card to support PCI Express 2.0 and has sent samples to partners for testing.

They would have made a killer if they released the 8600GTS with 256-bit memory interface.

Not necessarily. Maybe they looked at that option and saw little to no improvement compared to the price difference.

512bit didnt exactly do wonders for r600.
