Nvidia Apollo 11 Tech Demo

Nvidia have just released the Apollo 11 demo they showcased with the launch of the Maxwell series.

The tech demo showcases Nvidias new technology called Voxel Global Illumination which dramatically recreates real life likes lighting.

A video explaining the technology can be watched here for a more indepth explanation as putting it into words would just end up as a copy/paste job, It really is that in depth -

The tech demo Nvidia showcased was based around the Apollo 11 moon landing which can be seen here -

As for the actual tech demo, 900 series owners will be pleased to know Nvidia have released it to us so we may have a play around with it.

So far it only works with the 970 and 980 as they are the only cards to support VXGI.

Damn there servers for this are getting hammered!!!

Trying to download this I am getting less than 50KB/s :o

This might not even be included in UE4 after all (as was the plan at one point). I'd imagine, like PhysX, if it is included in UE4 it'll behave the same, albeit run differently on non Nvidia hardware. Much like how they've managed to weave physX into console games.

As I understand it, It's just a plugin much like Physx in Unreal.

I just uploaded a video of the tech demo running, It has quite a few options i.e wireframe, VXGI off, Original moon landing commentary etc...But I just recorded the main bulk of the automated demo, 1080P 60 FPS if you want to watch it in fluid motion on YouTube, Quite pretty and the performance is good too -
