Nvidia adds support for 4K Netflix on GTX 10-series GPUs

I honestly can't see many people caring while its locked to Edge. I'd prefer a standalone app to using Edge. Surely that would also be more secure (which I think is the primary concern for Netflix here)

Dear Netflix,

I'm tired of being kicked around for 4k on PC, not to mention the TV app updates that has previews blaring on every single GD menu item.

I'll be on Amazon and Sling if you ever clean up your act.

It seems to also work with the standalone Netflix app too :

NVIDIA Driver version exclusively provided via Microsoft Windows Insider Program (currently 381.74).
No other GeForce driver will support this functionality at this time

NVIDIA Pascal based GPU, GeForce GTX 1050 or greater with minimum 3GB memory
HDCP 2.2 capable monitor(s). Please see the additional section below if you are using multiple monitors and/or multiple GPUs.
Microsoft Edge browser or Netflix app from the Windows Store
Approximately 25Mbps (or faster) internet connection.

This is great news and shows that a Kaby Lake upgrade is not needed, a 1050ti at around 150 euros works out much cheaper than a new motherboard and cpu and having to use onboard graphics !!

Well done Nvidia :)

EDIT :

Installing the latest insider build now, 1050ti received a couple of weeks ago. Lets hope this new DRM from Microsoft will also enable 4K UHD blue-ray playback at some point in the future !!
