Noob in need of some help

Where are you installing the H80i? (Roof or Rear)

As for case fans, if you're putting the H80i in the roof, you want front intake case fans and the rear case fan in either intake or exhaust.

If you're putting the H80i at the rear of the case then as before front intake case fans and exhaust fan in the roof.

My plan was top mounting it, there's room for 2 200mm fans up there but there's only 1 pre-installed (it's in the rear space). Would I have to move the pre-installed fan from the rear to the front to mount the H80i, or does it matter which position it's in? Also, I'm pretty sure that the stock fan configuration is Front: Intake, Top: Exhaust, Rear: Exhaust. Not sure if this impacts anything, but I'll be replacing the stock fans on the H80i with Corsair Air Series SP120 120mm PWM Quiet Edition High Static Pressure Fans.

Yeah I'd move that fan forward to the other roof fan location to free up the space for the H80i, you could put the H80i in the front most portion of roof space but I'm not sure you'll have enough room with the drive bays being in the way.

No not at all, so long as you have cool air coming in through the front of the case and passing out through the back and roof, your golden.

Just my 2 cents, but is the case that the OP is buying is it really that good for air flow
I don't see why not, it has plenty of vents and mesh allowing the air in/out, and the hard drive cages are modular so that will free up space allowing for more flow rate.

Is it just bad airflow or is there more wrong with them?

IMO I don't like the way they look like and from what I've seen/felt, they're more plasticy then they need to be. You can often do better for less/the same cash. Not to mention the build quality can be trying and its pretty well documented that Thermaltake steal ideas from other companies.

They can't be as bad as the NZXT Phantom 820 I currently have. What an overpriced p.o.s.

If you think that about the Phantom you wont like Tt stuff matey.

IMHO the NZXT stuff is pretty great build quality for the money and feature set.

We have extensively reviewed loads of cases here though if you fancy a look through them.

Well the Phantom 820 sucks. The hard drive mounts are backwards and o0n mine, the fan controller & half the led's don't work. I got replacement parts to fix this 4 times and every time it burned out the minute I sent power to it. Instead of helping me get the issue fixed (still under warranty at this point), they tell me that they get their parts from China and couldn't be held responsible for the quality of the parts. What a load, after telling me this they refused to respond to me at all. Oh, and there was also the price $250.

With the led burn out there could be too much power going to them

TBH the NZXT H440 is one of the best cases on the market even TTL gave that case a White Gold award, he doesn't just give that award to any cases as far as i can remember none of the Corsair cases have got a White Gold award
