Noctua Redux Fans

EWWW!!!

Someone should fire the guy / gal picking the colors for Noctua!! >_<

No mate, they should get a raise. Choosing those colours 100% set them apart from all the other shitty fan-makers in the industry and they are now recognised as the high quality, high performance fans.

Sacrificing the materials for the gimmicks of looks was never an option for Noctua and now everyone (who knows anything about computers) knows who they are. That is how you build a brand and that is how you get the recognition you deserve in this kind of industry.

Whoever decided on the colour scheme, needs a medal the size of a bin lid.

Still NOT black and stick out like a sore thumb!!! They would never make it into one of my builds unless it was a white case which has not happened yet.

and yes they missed a lot of sales by not having SP 120's.

Guess they are still working on getting the fan right. Note sure why since they already had that fan in a different color, but what ever.

I find it very sympathetic if a company has an identy and their own philosophy and stick to that even if it means missing out on some sales. Like sub said, their emphasis does not lie on fancy looking fans, but on fans that work very well and reliable. As to the colour choice, everybody recognizes the branding. And that's kind of genius, as has been said before.

As to the choices on the Redux. They already have a 120 focus flow / pressure optimized fan. They did not have a 140 one. So in a way it makes sense to the product portfolio to go this route.

That's a lot better than the old fans, I kinda like the red and black, kinda. I don't understand why they have to be off colors.

I'm sort of glad in a way that Noctua have not done Black consumer fans, I think the grey is top banana as they are very neutral looking maybe a all white version in the future eh Noctua hint hint nudge nudge... and please sort out a SP120 in this current colour. :)

I broke down... Found a shop which said having Node 804s in stock. They also sell the Industrial PPP 2k rpm IP 67 fans.

Surely not cheap, but I bought 4 of those to use on my H100i rad. ^^

I'll try to keep you guys informed on how big the difference is (aside from the wallet that is XD ).

Yes, I agree that the one that picked the color of the Noctua fans deserves a medal. When ever you see fans on a build you allways ask what fans they are using etc. But when EVER you see a brown and beige fan then YOU KNOW what make of fan it is. Very clever marketing.

It's all about building brand recognition and they've done that :)

I still think they've done precisely what they should have which is release an SP140 style fan which was a big hole in the market as far as I'm concerned. They've already got an excellent fan for the SP120, so I agree they didn't need another SKU.

The Redux aren't *technically* as high end as the beige ones, and we all know everyone would switch from the standard SP120 to grey ones, which ultimately would mean their current range would become defunct. That's not good business sense! You only replace your current stuff with stuff that costs more / is better!

OK, moved my computer in my NODE 804, and assembled my Noctua NF-12 PPC 2000 IP67 in push-pull on my H100i.

Still trying to solve some problems (one Noctua fan ain't running, and my mobo can't seem one connected on the other fan header).

Once I solved my problems, I will get back to you guys. :)

OK, been using the Noctuas for 2 days now, configured so they get their PWM signal modulated by AI Suite 3 (I am using a Gene VI mobo).

Sub-1k rpm, they cannot be heard. Even with my Node 804 case half a meter from my position.

They start to get noticed above, and I admit they get loud, but not ear-piercing, at 2k rpm.

Temperatures on my H100i have of course bettered a lot.
I have no idea about the accuracy on my mobo's temperature sensors, but since I made that Noctua push-pull, my CPU temps go below those of the mobo. ^^

I do not regret my purchase, although, I must admit, I got them expensively (40€/pc). Yup, 4 of those were more expensive than my case (103€). XD

For better numbers, I hope TTL will get his hands on the fans. But, once again, I do not regret those NF-12 PPC 2000 IP67 fans. :)
