Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 VS Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced

Thanks for you're reply, lol the D14 is going to cover 3 slots, think i might have a problem as i'm using all 4 slots, don't really want to spend more than £40 atm. just checking out the Thermalright Venomous X atm.

Edit: just come across this noctua fan compatibility list:

seams my corsair and patriot memory will be fine

just need to see if it'll fit in my case now. also what about the Noctua NH-U12P SE2

I haven't found anything that compares the two but below is the temps for the be quiet advanced and there about the same prise so if your happy with the temps in the review than just go for that. Saying that the Noctua may be quieter, but thats just going on what I've heard about the quality of there fans.

I also read that review on the D-14 and they seemed to mark it down on its cost and how you can't use ram with excessive heat sinks. The only performance problem they said with regards to the AM3 socket was that the midle fan wasn't passing enough heat through but to be you could manually adjust the fan speed or just stick another fan at the end to help pull the heat through which a few people here have done going by one of the threads. Ofc, that's going to add another 10-15 quid on top of an already expensive cooler so if you think the be quiet would do you then just run with that.

Just my thoughts.

hey mate, appreciate your reply, I have been thinking about it and the size/price of the D14 is the issue, the Bequiet is about £41+ but i've been looking at the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 (reviews etc) which i can just about afford, its not a massive cooler compared to the D14 but offers good performance whilst staying quiet. I'm thinking that might be the ideal one to get, i've heard the mounting on the Bequiet is a pain.

I know it fits in the HAF912 without a fan and judging from the pics it looks like the side mounted fan will be lower than where the D14 sits.

I just measured it and i think it'll be close, its about 160mm from the top of the cpu socket to where the fan starts on the side panel.

Edit: Ordered the D14

Does look like it will fit to me. Just remember to have it exhausting out of the rear fan when you mount it dude

That's the Noctua NH D14 in, that has to be the best air cooler on the market in terms of performance and build quality. Mounting system is really good and one of the easiest compared to other coolers. This cooler is really quiet on full speed, blends in with my case fans, when i take the side panel off you can hear it a little but much much quieter than my old cooler. Cooler covers all 4 memory modules with room to spear, prob 1cm or so.

My phone's camera flash has spoilt the picture sry.

Thanks for the advice

Interesting review from bit-tech; I guess they don't test for noise being that the Coolermaster V8 are 1800RPM and the Titan Fenrir 2200RPM, and unless they are Scthye Gentle Typhoons, no fans can run those speed without being offensively loud.

But yay for Zaim; cool and quiet twin tower cooler, and normal height RAM.
