Noctua announces free upgrade for LGA2011

Vienna, October 19th 2011 - Noctua today announced its new NM-I2011 mounting kit for LGA2011. Continuing Noctua's tradition of supplying its customers with SecuFirm2™ mountings free of charge, the NM-I2011 kit allows Noctua users to upgrade to Intel's upcoming LGA2011 socket for Core i7-3000 (Sandy Bridge-E) processors. The new mounting is backwards compatible with all Noctua retail coolers since 2005 and will be supplied to Noctua users free of charge after uploading a proof of purchase on the company's website.

Companies charge money for these brackets, so its nice to know you can get one for free from Noctua. Think i heard that Noctua did this same thing earlyer when the 1156/1366 was launched.

Noctua has been providing the customers of their products free mounting accessories once the customers have proof of purchase of their products. They have great service as always. I thought the 2011 mounting holes are the same as 1366? Maybe it's the mounting that's different then.

its the same exact holes.. lol the basket difference is different larger threading screws the motherboard has a built in back plate THATS It soo there by no means losing money by sending u 4 different screws and a sheet of paper explaining the installation

There are built-in back plates for the 2011 boards that are to be released?

yes there prethread the back plate threading is actually on the top... screws no longer pass all the way threw

It's not just the screws it's the new SecuFirm2, it looks just like the first one to me there must be some difference or else they wouldn't be sending them out.

see the screws or w/e u wanna clal them on the right? thats the ONLY difference between 1366 and 2011, notice one end of the screw thingy is wider thats were it screws into the onboard backplate. as for the new mounting system it maybe just a new one ingeneral that would come with all new coolers anyway. honestly just looks like stiffer springs on the screws
