This isn't really setting an example like the fat old japanese men think it will, this will be inviting a lot more higher skilled hackers to go even further for prestige.
The fat old men in these companies are really out of touch with reality, If they were clever they would've done nothing but fine him the amount he earned and not bothered with prison.

Well I disagree.
His mistake was profiting from the hacks. It’s one thing doing something to damage a company but doing so for profit is bs and wrong.
Now in the case of them striking YouTubers yes I agree they’re out of order but on this one the guy has paid the price.

I'm with Alien on this to be fair and if it invites a lot more skilled hackers to go even further, well then they are just dumb.
If this guy has gotten his life destroyed by not only sentenced to prison, but also needs to pay off a debt that he most likely won't be able to pay off during his life time... Then wonder how hard of a punishment the next one will be.
I don't feel sorry for him at all, he knew what he was doing and hence was aware of the consequences of his doing. Now he (literally) pays the price for his actions.

It’s not about sides or corporations it’s about someone making money off of a company. If someone did it to yours you’d respond the same.
Morals dude. It’s all about morals this one.
This is not like the guy who uploaded vids of himself playing modded games. That one did suck, as he got two strikes. That was out of order but this isn’t imo.
You need to also remember that this isn’t down to a nasty little bloke who sits angry all day and wants to hurt people. It’s lawyers who know the law acting on their behalf , most of it they probably won’t even know about.

nintendo has always been forceful on different things, but in this case they are not to blame at all they are doing what any company would.
maybe in time the guy will be let off the hook in some larger way, but there it's a warning to others not to do the same.
like most poeple not exactly a fan of how nintendo acts at times, but they are not at fault in this case.

Morals are down to individuals. Just because you don't like corporations does not make what he did right. End of. If he had a leg to stand on? it would be different.
Right is right and wrong is wrong. And yes, lawyers are total scum. However, they can't be total scum if you don't do anything wrong. For example striking a guy on Youtube is d1ck behaviour. Suing someone who has damaged your IP and making money from it is not.
So if you want to talk about bias here? mirror fella. I am not being biased. AT ALL. Even though I absolutely hate Nintendo. And believe me I do. I totally do. I've not bought any of their crap since the Gamecube.

Unlike the Youtube guy they can't just go around making things up and ruining people's lives for no reason. Even Disney can't do that, whilst we are on the subject of crappy corps.
This is no different to something that happened in the town over me many years ago in the USA. Kid stole the latest Hulk DVD, took it home, ripped it and distributed it online. Ed. he worked in a cinema in May's Landing NJ.
He got absolutely reamed, and will be paying it back for the rest of his natural life.

Oh i get it but it's more the content creation and play through YT content that gets ripped down i'm not a fan of what they do on that side at times.
I've met shiggs way back when was his first trip outside of japan, I don't hate nintendo as such but i just not a huge fan of how they like to lock everything down.
Things like this are different thou, the guy no doubt regrets it now and distribution in any form imho either money involved or not is going to get you in trouble.
I'll admit i have many games, but i am not handing them to anyone or asking for money, soon as you go that route your in trouble and it's deserved, while you can have feelings over this guys life over the coming years, they are only taking 30% of his income not impossible for him to live a life, but no doubt damaged there income.
but in many ways the law isn't fair, but i do not feel we live in a fair world anyways, but i do feel due to how nintendo are at times over the content on YT they are looked upon as some evil corp but unfortunately most are, but they could be more forgiving in different ways in some forms, but things like this i dont disagree fully.
my last machine was also a GC but i do miss the days when nintendo forcused more on hardware and less on creative gimmicks it's not to say its all that bad, just that the days of a high end nintendo machine will never happen again.
