Nick Griffin on Question Time

Would you agree, that whatever their qualities, if a proportion of the populous vote for them, i.e. back them with a democratic mandate, that those people deserve representation ?

If not, is that undemocratic ? Do u massage the system so that they don't get representation ? Is that not undemocratic ?

All they're really doing is representing people who do vote for them.

It's one thing a 'nazi' party getting a popular vote, what happens after they're in office is another thing. e.g. Hitler.

Totally agree Rasta, they have been demogratically elected by the people so they have just the same rights as any of the other partys. To make them illegal or to stop them appearing on TV shows or even to protest these rights is undemocratic and fascist in itself.

But theres a difference

Its almost like saying a party which is up for killing the queen would be allowed to run for parliament.

What they stand for is illegal (treason, opposed to being racist etc.) but if you strip away the politics, what they stand for is illegal in our law

As much as any of us disagree with the views of the BNP the only thing they have been taken to court for lately is that there recruitment policy is discriminating against non-whites. Which I am sure they will change to comply with the law.

It is not like theres going to be a rush of non-whites to join.

Partys like the BNP are very clever at making there policies just within the law!

This was bound to generate some interesting feedback :)

I normally enjoy watching QT but last night was a bt of a farce IMO. It was just a hounding for the first 30 mins and no real debate (which is why I can kind of understand why he is a bit upset - but it was bound to happen I suppose?) This also showed some other parties/ politicians in their true light.

As a side topic, has anyone ever seen the documentary about the experiment "blue eyes /brown eyes"filmed in the 70s. I watched it as part of an EO course and is very interesting.

Channel 4 have recreated it in modern times and it is being broadcast on Channel 4 10:00pm-11:00pm (1 hour ) Thu 29 Oct

If you can watch it or tape it. If it is anything like the original it promises to be very interesting and should leave you thinking........ :o

what really pee's me off is that i cant help but feel the BBC can do no right. Just the other week politicians were saying the BBC are being bias towards one political party and that they should show no bias (which i agree with). Now those same people are saying the BBC shouldnt allow the BNP to be on question time.

Everything else aside, these sort of court cases make me laugh.

If it were white guyz being refused entry into some black/purple/yellow-power organization, nothing is complained about.

Equally, female cases to do male stuff, but not if a male wants female stuff. I'd personally like 3 months off, with my job safeguarded, for being thanked for not having kids.

Why does Nick Griffin and the BNP party get votes?

Skip to 20:45 in that video and you have your answer, he even gets applauded by some people in the "doctored" crowd.

I don't for 1 second think what he and his part stand for is correct but me and my mrs literally text each other at the same time after he'd finished answering that question, saying to each other "I actually agree with what he's just said".

Bit of a lol moment when the people start clapping, the 2 people in the front row turn around as though to say "wtf are you doing clapping, you're supposed to be against this man".
