anyone suggest a good value cooler that will drop this back down to the 30*C area?

That would be tough on air

The TT Big Typhoon is decent, the XP-120 may get it that low and the Zalman monstrousity (can't remember the name) may do ok too.

For those sort of temps tho: water is the answer :(

Well the big typhoon is...well, too big, i might be going for the xp-120 or xp-90 Cu. The stock amd cooler (the non heatpipe one:mad: ) is keeping it between 40 and 50, and thats just a chunk of aluminium with a semi decent fan

Actually, the best budget cooler out there is probably Arctic Cooling's 64 Pro. Gets within 3-5*C of the BT and is about $20 less (something like 12 GBP less)

thats the one,sam has the normal version on his opty@2.8ghz and he says its great,i think it might be a good investment for a low budget :)

anyone had experience with the Thermaltake CL-P0024? its top end of my budget when it comes to a cooler

its not that great. When it comes to TT coolers , always remember to get the best performance out of them , you have to lap the base. Their copper quality is great but the base is always ****ty. TT coolers after a nice base lapping turn into cooling monsters. But the Arctic Freezer Pro , with a lapped base is definitely a great great buy for the money.

My personal fav. would always be the TT Big Typhoon though. That cooler is AMAZING. With a lapped base , it works wonders . To an extent of out performing some of the lower end watercooling kits available in the market. Thermalright had some problems with the heatpipes being faulty on their XP120 and XP90 series. Their XP90C is a good offering , again after you lap the base. The bottom line is , if you have a copper base and its not a mirror finish , lap that bast*rd and you will notice a remarkable difference.

Nice clocks on air mate, get the heat down a bit more and u might be lookin at even more clockage :D :beerchug:
