NF-P14 FLX or NF-S12B FLX?

As the title says im woundering which fans to get.

Im getting 2 new fans for the roof and one in the rear (got a D14 aswell)
and im very picky about the noise, so i want the faan that is producing most cfm at the same noise level and if i get their specs right the NF-S12B FLX is beating the NF-P14 FLX but not with that much at the same noise level.
And im wondering if i get that right or if the numbers are playing with me today?
And also is thinking about the NH-D14 if that would make any difference to the choise of the rear fan.

So what would you suggest?

First off - just want to say, If you email noctua they'll send you out a 3rd set of fittings so you can attach a 3rd fan to the on the back - dont know if you're interested, but it's free :)

Looking at specs I'd probably say the S12B.

The P14 I find quite loud, and as it's a 140mm fan with 120mm fittings, it sometimes may not fit if you do want to put it somewhere else in the case... For example - if there's another 120mm fan in the roof of the case, and the fan mounts are standard 15mm spacings, you cant fit the P14 and any other fan in.

For your needs, i'd go for the S12bs. Noctua's 140mm fan is bloody loud, whereas the S12b is the quietest fan I have (I have the 140mm Noctua, the NF-F12, the Nf-S12b and the NF-P12, as well as some stock Fractal fans. The S12b is by far the quietest, in my opinion).

Thanks Josh and James and im thinking you know that there is 2 diffrent S12b fan one uln from start and one default but i supposing we all are talking about the default one.

And btw Josh how many fans do you got in your rig it sounds like you have like over 10 fans in the system

And James do the really send those fittings to all countries and they do it for free?
that would be awsome you never know when you need them

They sent me mine - I got them a couple of days ago. They came all the way from Austria, so I'd guess they would send them everywhere.
As I said - even if you dont need them now, they're still worth having - and the D14 looks amazing with a 3rd fan ;)

Just to say for fans - I have 11 in mine in total - adding a couple more soon too

I only have 6, and that includes the 2 on the 'D14 :)
I did have an extra 140mm Noctua, but it was so loud that I got a refund on it.

Thanks James im gonna send them a mail and test with one of my p12 fan and see how it looks if i get the fittings.

So it is James that have lots of fans.

And Josh that really clears things out for me not to get p14.

And i want to say thanks for the awsome help and fast replies like usual ;)

You're very welcome :)
If you ever run your 'D14 at 12v and wonder why it sounds like it's made by Boeing, it's primarily the 'P14.

Haha - Come on, it isnt that loud :P

Probably louder compared to the rest of the noctua range - but you are comparing it to the best fans in the world - considering it is a static pressure (high RPM) fan, and is 140mm, it's bound to be slightly louder than others. But it's still quieter than most other 140mm and 120mm fans I've used in the past.

I never run any fans at 12v but have tested that and it sounded more then my zotac gtx 570 synergy edition:( it wasnt the smartest choice i did when i got that card but it was the cheapest.

You got i point there i had the H60 before i got the d14 and that stock fan sounded like the computer was gonna fly

I've gone off noctua fans a bit now anyway.

If you're running fans at 5v like I do, then they're pretty much all silent anyway. Considering how expensive they are - you can get far nicer looking fans, that will perform the same or even better in some cases at half the cost.

I newer run any fan at 5v either im just getting the noise below my gpu and thats usually 7-10v and i must say i love the colors of noctua fans.

So noctua fans it is...

Sorry - I was just stating my opinions - no intent to put you off :)

I dont actually mind the colour at all on their own. But I think depending on a rig they can look completely of place.
For example, I saw a while ago a dark coloured themed rig with just a random noctua fan as the rear exhaust. It was the only light colour part of the build and just looked so out of place - I tried to find a picture but couldnt :/

I think If your case is themed with the Noctuas in mind then they look fine - I'd probably even go as far to say they look good - just dislike random Noctua fans put in a case for the sole reason that they're Noctuas.

Anyway - I'm sure if you have more Noctuas in the case and a D14 or something, it would look fine :)
