Ya, maximize sales. Rebadge Vista a bit, add some gimmicky things, and resell it.

Can`t believe in 3 years time, approx 2010, the mainstream OS will still be available as 32bit.

Think 99% of the processors, still working then, will be 64bit atleast.

Think the old Atari Falcon ?? (think that was the name, or Panther.. not sure) was psuedo 64bit. A step up from the STE that was psuedo 32bit. (psuedo as in cheating)

That`ll be around 20 years ago come 2010 !!

version 7!

Thanks for the heads up...

Dread to think what the required spec will be, possibly some kind of hardware integration will be involved: you don't get to the logon screen without swiping your credit card at the front of the case etc..

:D ;)

I want a version of Windows that is native x64, has no 32/16bit ties, has a new filesystem, does away with the cr@ppy registry and finally gives you the option of what OS components to install during setup.

Of course I'm dreaming...

Yea, i dont believe that will happen for a LONG time, and GUI options at setup? Never with M$. I believe the credit card option will be an option sooner or later.

How about using the hardware reset commands instead of restarting all the time ?

And thats the young geek community out the window.

I like MS but Apple are far ahead in terms of operating systems, they are so nice looking and easy to use.. VERY few virus'. However the enthuisast market is still MS park as its really hard to cutomise ur own mac. I have both 2 pc's and to Macs. I use the pc's for gaming and messing around with and the macs for photoshopping and garage band etc. :)

Ah but there is a reason for that, OS X has a small market share in comparison to MS.

MS OS's are used the world over by conglomerates down to everyday people like you and me.

To design an effective (i.e. nasty) virus you'd want it to affect as many systems/people/computers as possible. For that reason MS is the target. When OX S becomes a bigger contender, more virus will appear that target that OS.

Firefox's European market share has expanded greatly of late, so it will be interesting to see if more hijacks aimed at Firefox's back door will appear...

On topic - what Jim said tbh...

Hmm, when I were a lad, the virus` were created as many of the bedroom programmers were anti m$.
