New Way To Handle Comps

Meh..not everyone is able to mod and stuff...that doesn't mean they don't participate in the community...it just means their parents are strict. What I think kind of angers some people is how new people signup just for the competition and win. I think we should have a post limit or something. If you want everyone to be able to win, then you can put like a post limit on prizes.

Example, in the last competition, it could've been like this:

8800GTS - Atleast 1 month membership and 100 quality posts

WC Kit- Atleast 1 month membership and 75 quality posts

500GB HDD-No restrictions

etc..etc

Just a suggestion.

as unfortunate as it is, comps are aimed to bring new users to the community. restricting entry does seem unfair, but it is for the good of the site if we dont

i know some people are a little miffed at the "luck of the draw" comps, but at the end of the day nothing comes for free usually, and im sure in the future we can plan for some more "skilled" comps. claims that we havent done these in the past are untrue, for example the comp to win the LCD display with specialtech...

if you are really annoyed that u arent wining these comps, think of the mods and affiliates that cant even enter! we are humans too and we want free stuff just as much as you!

Gotta agree with Dave on this one for sure. Primarily, the aim of the competitions are two-fold - to entice new users in and get the OC3D name out there, and to give you all just as much chance to win some new kit as anybody else. And yeah, the mods and affiliates can't even enter...so you've got one up on us for a start.

Ialso agree but it seems that there are alot of people who seem a bit upset at not winning. You cant win always and personally I dont think they should be done any other way as everyone has a chance then, but I have been interested in some of the threads that have started as a result ( I even started one). I am especially interested in the CS ladder although I admit it will take a lot of organising.

Oh, well assuming the admins do their jobs, spam shouldn't be a problem then...(Not that the admins are bad or anything :D)

Personally I think anything competitive is going to be very hard to judge fairly as I've had experience in the past of wild accusations going around of cheating/favouritism in other contests.

Also the prizes are for everyone who reads OC3D, not just the forum members. We do run forum only competitions so you guys here can win stuff but you have to understand that the sponsers of the competitions want exposure and they get a whole lot more of it on the main site as well as the forums.

Hell if I could give prizes to just our valued forum members I would :) But that's just not very fair and the way we've been doing competitions is

Maybe a contract to sign your life away for at least 2 months to oc3d in the event on winning a competition to stop them only returning for the competitons? Force them to stay lol
