New to Watercooling

Hi guys. I'm new to the liquid cooling scene, I've built lots of systems and I'm a freak when it comes to my components looking neat and tighty..

Currently I've got a 3770K running 4.5Ghz on a Asus Maximus V Extreme, I have 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum's and all fans in my Switch 810 Matte Black are exchanged with Corsair AF 140's for case fans and the H100i I got is using 2 120mm SP silent series.

Now the questioning comes into play:) I want a 360 in the top, approx 50-60mm thick, I have already moved the needed stuff in the top of the case to fit it, I'm only gonna run with push so 3x SP 120 silent series.

Which 360 rad would the majority of you recommend for 120mm which doesnt have a too high SP, quite silent fans, I'm thinking about the fin density and all that.. I see XSPC has one which seems to be good for these kinds of fans but ill leave it to you:cool: And take your advices as Tom kinda has become my Watercooling guru

In the bottom I want a 240, about the same thickness (50-60mm) and also use the same 120mm SP silent series, so will need the same kind of density in the fins :)

Pump & Res I can figure out myself, but if you wanna give me any tips or guidance, throw that at me too, it would be great:p

As for the CPU block.. What to get? I think all the EK blocks looks just, yuck -_- I cant stand the O kind of circles on the block, it looks mega ugly, any other suggestions than EK? And RayStorm is also a no go from XSPC, I have a strict red/black color theme, the block would ruin it with its blue LEDS

Bottom line is; cooling the 3770K and 2x 680s with a 360 rad top/240 rad bottom

When my system is done I will post pictures here^_^ My first time watercooling and I cant wait!

Cheers, looking forward to your suggestions - Kasper/Denmark

for rads, XSPC or alphacool, both great
I'd go with a D5 pump since that's quite the best thing you can get imo
the Raystorm block doesn't have the blue led attached, you can either not put it on or get a similar red led to put on

First time eh? I just got into it recently too. Much agreed about the D5; best pump out there. Just make sure you place it below your res of course! I have Alphacool rads and they're quite good at keeping my noise levels down.

I decided to go with XSPC rads and cpu block

RayStorm cpu block as I see I can just switch out the blue led with red if I want to

XSPC RX360 Black in the top & XSPC RX240 Black in the bottom.. now for res/pump or if I want a res/pump all in one like the
XSPC X2O 750 Dual Bay Reservoir Pump Rev.2

The pump you're refering to would be the Swiftech MCP655 (Laing D5) right?

wouldn't go with that one since the pump is not that great
there is a bay/res combo with a D5 though

if you go with a combo, tube res, bay res or something different is quite a personal thing

I forgot to mention bay res are not that good. Solutions like the one below are best IMO.

This is in my rig BTW.

Link me the D5 pump your talking about then :-) I'm not good with names on liquid cooling components yet

if I can give my two cents...
if your going with the D5 go with the vario. It's got speed control.
Also if your in Canada Dazmode .com has these, he also has ones with his name on it for CHEAPER. Identical D5 sold to different retailers that put there name on it and sell it for what they want, Daz has THE cheapest prices.

the "normal" D5 does also have speed control
also, he's from Denmark
there's a reason you can add your location to your profile

#14 I'll translate some text for you: Man har nu også mulighed for selv at bestemme støj vs. ydelse i form af fem forskellige indstillingsmuligheder.

"You now also have the opportunity to adjust the noise versus performance in form of five different options"

I'm guessing its the Vario then, they just didnt include it in the product name on the website but I could be wrong

Any benefits from the Vario over the "regular" ? Significant noise difference?

be careful with the raystorm, the standard hold down plate can crack if you tighten it too much.

You can get an ally hold down plate, or buy the chrome version of the block that comes with the black ally hold down.

The leds you can fit just clutter up the cpu socket area with wires.

Just take the Vario D5 it's a Huge noise difference between 1 and 5 in my Rig.
My Pump runs between 2 and 3, about 2200 RPM in my case.
It got some noisy resonance peaks between 1-2 and 3-4.

If you don`t like the Rings you can buy the transparent Version, looks cool with colored coolant and you won't see the Rings that much.

Or just run a normal D5 off a 7v resistor. Does the same thing.

Also have you bought the rads yet? I'd choose Alphacool UT60s or Phobya g-changers.
