Hi Guys!!
Hows things going? - i'm new the forums and I was wondering if I could get some advice from all you of you "much" experienced OC'ers. I have just recently built a new rig, primarily for semi to intensive video editing and graphic rendering - and the occasional gaming. The items I have;
PLEASE HELP! It would be much appreciated.
- Asus Sabertooth X79 MOBO
- 32gb Corsair Vengeance Ram
- Win 7 ultimate (64-bit) OS
- NZXT phantom 410 Full tower
- Asus GF GTX 580 graphics card/1536mb GDDR5
- Corsair H60 water CPU cooler thingy (should I get a H100 instead???)
- HX1050 PSU
- Intel i7 3930k 6C/12T CPU (sandy-bridge series)
- 2TB HDD
- 120gb SSD (windows only + drivers, but no programs)
I have done like a DIY OC to 4.50GHz (4500.00MHz - 100.00 x 45.0) and this is what I did;
Ai Overclock Tuner – Manual
BCLK Frequency – 100
CPU Clock Gen Filter – Enabled
Memory Frequency – 1600MHz
EPU Power Saving Mode – Disabled
OC Tuner – Left alone
DRAM Timing Control – 9-9-9-24-2
DIGI+ Power Control
- CPU Load-Line Calibration – Set to High
CPU Performance Settings
- CPU Ratio – 45
- Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology – set this to Disabled
CPU Vcore Voltage – 1.325
CPU VCCSA – Left this at default
DRAM Voltage (CHA, CHB) – 1.5v
DRAM Voltage (CHC, CHD) – 1.5v
CPU PLL Voltage – 1.8v (i think it was stock, before it was on Auto)
VTTCPU Voltage – 1.3v
Once that was all done, I made it into Windows and performed some stress tests using linpack, and the residual norms came out the same. However at times when I boot, or odd times when under load, I here this weird sound? its not a clicking sound, but it sounds like plumbing?. I don't how to describe it but, you know when water is turned on and you hear this weird noise after the tap is turned off? kinda like pressure? but not pressure build up.
I know I might have some things too low or too high in the current tweaks, BUT PLEASE HELP! It would be much appreciated.
I also want to keep it at a safe OC so the Chips can have a good lifespan. Average temp at the moment are 49-52 at idle. Is that normal??
Kind Regards,
mr.Rana
