Hi --

Got a company locally that I will be purchasing a new machine.

It's actually a Xmas present and looking to buy a machine around £200(ish)

My plans are basically 512MB Ram / 80G HDD.

But confused with all these CPU types - Which CPU would be better / Faster...:

Intel Celeron 2.8 Gig

Athlon 64 3000

3000+ Sempron

Just looking to get as much for my money as I can ;-)

Glen. ;)

The Athlon 64 3000+ is your best bet out of that lot mate.

Nice and fast and cheap :)

Have ya checked in Tesco's recently?? They have some killer offers on Full PC systems :)

As stated the Athlon 64 is perhaps the best value. Checkout Dell for some of their offers. £200 is rather on the low side. Pay attention to the video card or on board video which is usually the only option on very cheap deals. Its always a good idea to have a measure of upgradeability IE having a Motherboard with a AGS slot so that one can later perhaps choose a better video card.

Hi there

Thanks for the info. Seems the A64 is the way to go.

I know Intel P4 seems expensive, but are they really worth the money?

Thinking about a P4 on my next machine.... ;)
