Have seen you guys are really helpfull on here, and seem to know instantly the best place to shop so gonna list my new rig components with the prices I have, and wondered if I was getting ripped off - or you know of a cheaper place, as it would take me a month to find the best deals (I only know 3 computer site shops .... lol) :)

And double your PSU budget while your at it. Frying brand new hardware sucks. Trust me.

If money is tight ditch the fan controller.

Just a thought why a 200gb and a 250, why not two 250's? I mean for a 5 (Your currency) difference i dont see why you wouldnt want the extra space. Not to be critisizing or anything.

steer clear of kustompcs their prices are pretty OTT imo. also dont touch overclockers uk. if you get your post count up (without spamming:nono: ;) ) then you get free shipping with specialtech, which on a whole rig will be a godsend.

scan.co.uk is pretty good for price comparisons, as is ebuyer.co.uk and froogle.co.uk

If anything on specialtech seems way overpriced, post it up on the specialtech forum (oc3d forum front page) and they will see what the deal it and probably get some competative prices for you.

And i think everyone here at OC3D will tell you how fantastic their customer support is. Second to none.

Cheers, in ref to the previous post, you say SATA dont do the Master and slave HD thing?

I take it you still have a Drive for your OS etc etc, and can still have another as "storage" ???

Ooops SATA controllers do have master/slaves - but they mean an entirely different thing to an IDE master/slave. In SATA it usually denote dev0 & 1 on a channel that can be paired, but has no influence on bootability or anything.

Setting up for installs is pretty debateable in the mission for the best OS & gaming setup.

U could get 2 identical drives and raid0 them, and arrange u`r OS and games section how u will.

Or u could do as u seem to be heading, which is one drive for OS and 1 for games.

Which is better ? There`s a personal preference for people again with that. I always prefer to keep my OS on different drives to either work or games. Not as much a difference as back in the IDE days, but it`s there.

on the other hand they tend to carry a lot of the smaller stuff that the big box shifters don't, they will get stuff in for you that they don't normally carry if they can & they have the best customer service going.

Sometimes it's worth paying a bit more.

I agree - I bought some fussy little things from them that I couldn't get elsewhere.

They're not always expensive. My son got his Razer Barracuda headphones from them with his first saturday job money and they were close to the cheapest out there - however, would have used Specialtech if there'd been any in stock.

And luckily for me they use a courier that has a depot in the town where I live.

Which courier a seller uses is almost as important as price to me e.g. I won't use anyone that uses Citylink anymore - they don't return calls for rearranging missed deliveries in time and nearest depot is 40 miles away!

I wish everyone would give an option to use Parcel Force.

I did use to use Scan all the time, with perfect satisfaction - until I got sick of Citylink.

SpecialTech provide the sort of excellent service that I used to have with Kustom tbh. I had a couple of bad experiences with the Kustom guys and not had one from ST :)

I only said kustompcs as they do all the funky SATA cables. I dont know anywhere else that gets them in.

And they sell Jolt ;)

Never had any issues with them. But also never had any issues with OcUk, either. Guess I am just lucky. :P

TekHeads, I am thinking of ordering through these now, as it has what I want at a cheaper cost which means I can upgrade even more, Has anyone used these before ?

If someone has a minute - can you just confirm 2 things?

1. Have I missed anything of essential that will hinder my build (got case)

2. Is it all compatable (it seems to be, as far as I can see .... lol)

Thanks again

.

I don't see anything missing, as for compatibility, I still dont see any problems (Just by glancing at names).

One more thing, do you have a OS?
