What's the point of a benchmark that is only valid for ONE series of cards?!?!?

Same could have been said for their DX12 benchmark given Nvidia's lacklustre ASYNC compute capabilities.

MS has made a DirectX Ray Tracing API, which is technically supported by all DX12 graphics cards. Right now only Nvidia has hardware with dedicated Ray Tracing acceleration capabilities (their RT cores) but that will no doubt change in time.

UL Benchmarks/Futuremark have made benchmarks that seemed pointless in the past, with their API overhead test acting as a prime example. It's useless now, but it did provide some useful data for its time.

Because it's the future of rendering.

^^He's right you know.

I can't wait for Blender 2.90 to release and see just how good this is going to be, it's already mind blowing using the Beta on a 1080Ti.

Is that in real time as well?

Sure is fella, real time rendering with almost no wait time.

This is Blender 2.8 using the EEVEE real time render engine.

Can't wait to see what RT brings to the table.

EDIT: What you should take from this is that the artist is working in real time on the animations, textures and other effects. Ray tracing is going to speed this up so much and also rule out the need for fake light sources.
