New PC.. worth waiting?

Basicly after 4 years i think its time for a new computer lol ><, i have around £800 - 1000 to spend on the tower (depending on if i get a 22" wide-screen to replace this 19").

What I want to ask you guys is, is there anything worth waiting instead of getting it now/September time? What is the Upside to this new G0 stepping?

is the new 1333 c2d worth it? I also want to try my hand at Overclocking.

so yea, what would you guys do if u had £1000 and needed a new pc?

Build now, C2D has never been so cheap and there is no signs of it dropping much more and there is nothing else that competes with it at the minute.

It all depends on the desperation. Sure there are a few windows opening around autumn time for some new stuffs, but, as is always the case with pc stuff, u can always w8.

Desperation meaning how capable u feel u`r system is atm for what u want to do.

I was in a similar positiion as you a few months back, with only half the money.

You can step it and buy the bits that will make the most difference to your current rig. and then buy new bits further down the line when/if prices drop.

Started off last year with opty cpu and PCI-e compatible mb and 2GB ballistix. April this year moved onto 8800 GTS from the same graphics you have (WOW!!!!) what a difference, PSU, and XFI sound.

Now ready to go C2D -quad and all that it takes with about £350, goes to start a new thread.;)

On a side note get the 22". You can never have too much desktop space, and 22" is the price point currently.

What im currently looking at:

CPU: Intel C2D E6850 3.00GHz 'Conroe' 1333 Mhz

Mobo: Asus P5K Premium WiFi-AP P35

RAM: GSkill 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 HZ Series 4-4-4-12 (2x1GB)

Graphics: Asus nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 640MB DDR3

PSU: Tagan TG530-U15 530W

£634.10

what's the difference between 4-4-4-12 and 4-4-3-5, noticeable? trouble OC'in later?

Do I need 640MB for a 22" monitor or can i get away with 320MB (with no real performance lose?).. is the gain worth the extra £30-£15?

What Good Motherboards are there that you can overclock on (at least moderately) that you guys can suggest?

Is 530W enough for this spec system?
