new nVidia card rumour???

100% unconfirmed.

In three weeks or so, NVIDIA is expected to release the 8850 GX2.

It has two 8800 GTS cards on a dual PCB, in the style of the 7950 GX2. It runs 192 stream processors, 48 raster operations units (ROPs), and a shocking 640-bit memory rate. Goodness knows how much RAM NVIDIA will include.

Speeds will be slower but, still, this is likely to be a killer card!

Prices are expected to be around the £550 mark.

Argh, what's that coming over the hill? - is it a MONSTER! :D

This probably means that those 7950GX2 super-water-blocks could be used for this new card?

Possibly, though the 79xx cards use a different mount to the 8800's

Yeah I doubt we will be that lucky.

I have to say I am more excited about this card than an sli GTX or GTS set-up - but then again I am less than ecstatic with the price, which will only go one way by Feb next year - by which time we will have details of the die shrunk 8900's which could be a better buy.

It would be stupid to release an 8850 model just for the dual gpu card - surely the GX2 at the end would suffice?
