hi all,

i am looking to upgrade my mon. currently i use a 20" dell (2005). New mon will be run with sli 8800gtx. main uses will be gaming and perhaps mon doubling up for blueray dvds, in the future.

some questions for u all,

is 24" the ideal size for everday use?

is 27" mon too big for everyday use? specific browsing and gaming

is display port worth investing in?

thanks in advance

If i was you i would go for the 24" monitor. IMO, 22" is the maximum you need for web-browsing and playing games. 27" is way too much and would require very fast hardware and high resolutions.

Actually u have same resolution on both DELL monitors 24" and 27" (1920x1200)so its really up to you whitch you will buy. There will be no difference in your comp performance on both of displays but better prepare your computer for this ,before you decide to buy it read some articles that includes test on different resolutions in games so you can check how game frames drop on high res. For me if you are shooter fan(quake,UT,Crysis) and dont use any graphic design programs or video editing tools 24" will be good option, if you like RTS games and you are in video editing or graphic design those extra 3" can be usefull.

thks for the replys.still undecided on choice, will wait and see i think.most users seem to be migrating to 24" displays.

hi, had bought a samsung for a christmas pressie, nice finish on them but had 3 lazy/dead pixels on it.tbh kinda put me off them. although my main tv is a sammy and thats stunning.

lol i have just recieved DGM 24" monitor -200pund ish ,its huge(comparing to my lg flatron 19"), cant say a bad word for its performance,VGA-DVI ports, good viewing angle, no visible ghosting (didt try it on NFSU , only on hf2 ,lineage and quake3/4),no dead pix, and very good colors. if i would have more money i would probably go for samsung, but for not now(I am collecting cash for new rig ;]) I

`m very happy(Photoshop and 24" rox! :) does anyone knows how to measure response time of monitor, is there any software to do it?

The dell and apple 24" are amazing.

Im staying away from Samsung, had lots of ghosting issues on my monitor, and the TV's they have look inferior to Sharp, Toshiba and Sony.

quite alot of users getting the DGM mons.

with regard to main tvs, i found that replacing the aerial feed cable to double shielded co-ax improved my picture quality by a large margin.

back to subject, just ordered a dell 2408wfp.

Main reason why its happening is that they are so so cheap, and if you look at specification they have very similiar to those monitors for 350 pounds(only one thing that they have is older lcd display with give you less life for monitorand weaker color depth), but mine is working , and i`m very happy , but as i said before if i olny had more cash i would rather go for samsung

about apple monitors i know they have briliant colours but they still have this

ty response time like 16 or 12 ms?

hi all,

instead of posting new thread, thought it would be easier and relevant to resume this one.

Bloody sods-law, I have had 5 dell 2408 panels all with a dead/bright pixel!!... but there is a silver lining.

coz of all the hassle the reseller/dell got me upgraded to a new spanking 2709w and got a free external h/disc as well. well chuffed I am.

but have to give credit for the next day business warranty.
