New Mobo (drool)

http://www.pcper.com/news.php

(wonder what these guys will sell for @ release).

Yep, it's a monster. I saw some leaked pics of it just before Christmas, from what I have read about it thou, you wont be able to use all those PCI-E lanes for SLI/CF. Not that any man needs more than two cards anyway, 4 way SLI/CF is pretty pointless if you ask me, unless you are running 5 monitors or something like that anyway.

And another board jumps on the "military Grade" bandwagon XD

I guess "Aerospace Grade" will be next?!?!

Personally i don't like the look of the board, i just find all those PCIe slots annoying and too packed together.

I would prefer just 4, but what do i know, im a newb.

From a Folding Standpoint 8 single slot GTS 450's would make a quite impressive Folding Machine

72k in cards alone

True. If you are using it for something practical like folding it's all good

For normal use thou, it's pretty pointless.

yeah that would be epic but what speed would the lanes end up being turned down to having 8 cards in there

I have done a bit of Google fu and all I have found out about the PCI-E lanes is a few threads in other forums saying that to run them all properly you would need two NF200 chips

I also read something about a alternative to the NF200 called Hydra, not to sure what that is thou, i'm not to clued up on the whole multi PCI-E lane and what it takes to run them.

the hydra is lucid you can mix and match graphics cards and run them together like a 480 and a 580 at the same time and it will run like sli

That sounds awesome, especially for people who can't afford a new GPU, they would be able to just buy a cheaper card and use that to boost their performance

Two ideas of thought:

1st(Im in a postion to upgrade to a 2nd gtx470 (zotac) gpu. My friend says dont buy the oc gtx560 Ti; that its just gimmicky. Of course I read specs on 560ti vs. 470 and could obviously compare the difference (core, shaders, bandwidth , memory). Im not very savvy when it comes to gpus & stats but I could tell that my gtx 470 trumps the Ti and buying a 2nd gtx 470 for 124.68gpb (B&M) would serve me even more. I may hold out and see if price drops just a little more (hoefully to 112.15gbp) or just rest on my laurels and wait for the gtx595 to surface.

These are usd prices converted to gpb. I live in the U.S.

2nd I wonder if this mobo is the rival to the Gigabyte GAP67A-UD7 board in terms of providing solid OC'ing to cpu or no.

Any ideas or will TinyTom have to give us the rundown on OC3D.tv? :-)

Adding another 470 sounds like a good idea, but then again I don't really know much about SLI and how much extra performance you would get from it, but i'm guessing it would be more than one 560.

As for the mobo, i'm pretty sure it will be solid for OCing seen as it will be an enthusiast board, but until it comes out no one can say for sure.

I'll be looking forward to seeing Toms review of it to see how good it actually is.
