New GFX Card Needed

Hi Everyone,
The graphics card in my wifes PC has decided to stop working properly and a new graphics card is needed.

Ok she only really uses the PC for Internet, Photoshop and playing the Sims 3 so I dont need something incredibly powerful or expensive.

Can anyone reccommend a good graphics card that would suit the above.

Thanks,

JLR :).

budget??? I think along the lines of a 7770 or 650ti would suit a mild budget for what ya do with it plus be able to play a few more games to boot

Unsure of budget just want to get an idea of what I can get for little £'s as possible. Nothing super powerful is needed as the only game she plays is The Sims 3.

I think "everythink's" playing the Sims.

It's a question of budget, needing cuda (nvidia) or having plans for multimonitor setup (AMD) ;)

Lol no multimonitor setup needed and CUDA is not essential (Not for the sims 3 I think anyway).

Will go to £100 tops, hopefully I can get something tidy for that.

I wouldn't even get anything that high end, get one of the passive cards from Aria that are on offer mate. no need for any horsepower for anything you've mentioned at all.. £30 tops surely?

Also how old is the box? Does it definitely have Pci-Express?

Yeah £30 is more like it. Yeah it's definately got pci-xpress it's not that old it's a quad core CPU with 8gb of DDR3 1333mhz RAM I built it last year on a budget for her business so all she really uses is Photoshop and the sims when she fancies playing a game.

i have just had to buy my wife a new GPU and all she does is play sims 3 blog about stuff photoshop and tiny bit of rendering.

I just bought a GTX650ti from scan http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=47257

does the job fine, and she is happy cause the graphics are more playable now apparently

^It's more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, actually. A low end card will do fine...

If he doesn't want a card that costs 100 quid, nor a really low end card, he could go with a 7750. They're on Scan for like 65 quid (probably cheaper somewhere else but Scan is the only English webshop that I know of xD).

Yeah the cheaper the better as I dont think the Sims 3 is really graphic hungry and there is no need for a top end card.

Ok now thats sorted I want a new GPU for my upcoming build Ive decided on a 7950 but unsure of what brand as they all have different specs.

Can anyone reccommend a good GPU budget is £200 - £280.

Thanks all,

JLR :).

I would get the MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition Graphics Card. I had the Sapphire 7950 dual fan card and it died after a week. I've never had issues with Nvidia cards out of the 3 I've owned.
