New "gaming" monitor advice needed

Hello all,
my brother just moved to China and didn't bring his old BenQ 120hz monitor.

He's looking to buy a new, and since I don't really know what China offers in-store I'm/he is pretty much open to any recommendation.

He would like it to be 120hz like his old, but is hoping he could also get it with an IPS-panel.

What are some solid 120hz/ips choices out there that arent super expensive because of G-sync/Freesync? He does have a 980ti, but I dont know if it supports G-sync, nor do I (think?) its anything he needs/must have.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it does support G-Sync.

I'm assuming his BenQ monitor was 1080p? There are no 120hz IPS 1080p monitors available. If you want a high refresh rate but IPS, you'd have to look at 1440p but ones with G-Sync are not cheap. Somewhere between £550-£800.

The GTX 980 Ti supports G-Sync, though a 120Hz G-Sync monitor will be hard to find. Most 1080p G-Sync monitors are 144Hz these days.

Big problem is that given the price premium of G-Sync the majority of compatible displays are 1440p and a lot of the more affordable ones are TN (has the lowest latency, since they aim for the pro gamer crowd).

Hello again,
sorry for the late reply.

Seems he'd already bought a monitor before I even finished this thread (he messaged me not long after), he ended up with an Asus VG278Q.

Not sure if Freesync is gonna do anything for him though, given he has an Nvidia card.
