New build, what do you think?

Hi guys, not posted on here for years!

I finally upgraded my trusty Celeron E1200, and because I'm so loyal to the Celeron brand I couldnt pass up the cheapness of the G530.

My understanding so far is that the G530 is quite a nice little CPU for the money (£35). Should be more than enough for me right now, I dont game but do plan to next year, so I'm hoping the board I picked will be good enough to overclock a 2500k next year.

Spec:

Celeron G530

Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3

2x 4GB DDR3

Crucial M4 64GB

Samsung F1 1TB (from my old machine)

LG HD-DVD/BDROM combo drive

Have only received the CPU and RAM so far.

I ordered "CCL Choice" from CCLOnline.com and CCL decided to send me an unmatched pair of 4GB DDR3's which I'm pretty pissed off about, one of which is used. I've emailed them and their answer was that they do not guarantee a matched pair. I mean, come on, really? If it was PC World you might expect that kind of attitude. Never had that problem buying ebuyer value ram, which I've done dozens of times now.

I went for the cheap stuff as the G530 cant be OC'd much, so I figured I'll get a decent pair of 8GB's at the same time as I upgrade to a 2500k next year.

Another thing I forgot about is lack of SATA 3 on the mobo, so I guess I'll only be getting 250MB/s out of the M4. Damn

So other than that, what do people think, will it be nippy enough for now? I dont game but do plan to next year.

You should just get a SATA II SSD and you will be able to get a higher capacity one as well. On the other hand a SATA III SSD would be useful when you do upgrade

I got the M4 for £75, thing is, the cheaper ones either had bad reviews, or just had slow specs? I could always sling a SATA3 card in I guess

You can't overclock the K series chips on the H61 or H67 chipset. If you want to keep the same board and overclock a 2500K next year you'll need to get a P67 or Z68 chipset board.
