well option 1 will be the best, question is when do you want to build your rig and how do you want it to cost?

atm option 4 is imo the best buy of all currently available hardware at a reasonable price...couple with an asus p5k or p5e and your away....

For soundcard....i love my xfi fatality (64mb ram)...but then i only paid £20 for it off ebay - works a treat and iv had zero driver issues... its personal preferance really.

if money is no object maybe consider stomaching a 680i mobo and going dual 8800gt?

Asus P5K3 Premium is a great board

I like option one - but would wait to see if the ATI cards are any good before diving in Nvidia. Also both companies are to offer a dual GPU single card so be good to see which is best or affordable or both and avoids teh issue of SLI/crossfire both of which are not as good as they could be for different reasons (crossfire drivers suk and Nvidia SLI boards suck with quads)

I am not sure current 680i based board are 45nm compatable, as in compatable for overclockers.

Cheers
