New build CPU advice for GTX1060

Would like some advice and suggestions for my build please.

I have already a Gigabyte windforce GTX1060 3GB and 16gb of vengeance 2400ghz ram.

Looking at CPU and motherboard options for above that will suit the 1060. I'll only be gaming at 1080p 60hz but was hoping to dabble with a bit of flight sim/xplane also.

What does everyone think of the following:

I5 7500 on a B250
I3 8100 on a Z370
Ryzen 1500x on a B350

All quad core and all work out a similar price, are they a good match for a 1060 or should i be looking at higher end (i3 8350k??)

Thanks in advance

I'd go with the i5 if I'm honest, then look to upgrade further down the line to an i7. Simulators love more powerful cores.

The 1600X is going for $200 shipped right now in the US. Almost guaranteed to overclock to 4.0 and would be hard to beat dollar for dollar.

I'm about to upgrade my motherboard and CPU and have been combing over reviews the last couple days and that 1600X really is a sweet chip especially when overclocked to 4.0. It's identical in performance to the 1700 and 1800x in 95% of applications and while it still lags behind Intel in gaming at 1080, it's only a handful of games where it's by a big enough margin you'd notice a difference in actual gameplay.

I had myself all talked into getting a 8600k but I'm really liking the way that 1600x looks for $100 less and a $30 savings on motherboard (Asus ROG Strix).

Also, AMD will be supporting AM4 for another couple years so when the new Zen chips come out, you will be able to drop them into your existing AM4 motherboard.

Out of the CPUs you've listed, I'd pick the 1500x. Although I'd try and stretch to the R5 1600 if you can. It should only be $20 more, and it'll be a lot more future proof (with Intel moving to 6-core CPUs and all).

Thanks, certainly a few more to consider. Its all part of the fun though, researching parts for the build watching comparison videos etc

I think future proofing is wise. So looking seriously at ryzen or coffee lake now.
