i am going to build a new budget rig for me

which of these cpus is good for less than 200 euros : http://www.scanmalta.com/pricelist.php?WebCategory=cpu

could be amd or intel no matter as long as dual core

and could someone find a good combination of mobo ram and so on (remeber this is a budget pc) and i am trying to make a 7600 sli

thanks for any help , i am a bit confused because if it wouldnt be a budget rig i would get the most expensive parts

scan is one of the only shops in malta which have c2d and they are relatively cheap, i specified in euros because i dont think you can work it out with Lm

1Lm = 2.4E
 
I don`t know if it`s a lottery atm whether the different E6x00 processors will clock as good as they used to.

Used to be the case that peoples would buy 6300 and clock the sheet out of it, but I notice Frag has a 6600.
 
I had 7600Gt on SLI with my AMD Opty 148 (single core) and it worked Beautifully...

I would worry more about bottleneck with the 8800 series (and the new high end stuff)
 
I had the 7600GS and GT cards in SLI and they both scored higher than my XFX7950 Extreme on 3DMark05.

In games they looked the same to me, as a matter of fact my X800GTO looked fine to me too.

I would get what ever is the BEST deal for you. I like the 7600GTs because they dont need extra power so you dont need a crazy PS also. On my comp I had a DFI Expert with a Opty 148, 4 Hdds and the 7600GTs in SLI and I only used a Silverstone 400watt PS

The 7600GTs($130 each) are nice but I just bought a HIS X1950PRO for $199US and I am thinking its gonna game mabye even better.

I wouldnt worry too much about DX10 cards yet because you need Vista and dont forget there are no games yet.
 
Hmm well, I'm using a single 7600 GT right now and I can run most games on high settings. For games like FEAR I use it at medium. Now, I estimate 2 7600 GTs to go for around 300 euro? You might want to go with a 7900 GS SLI setup, that'll be better. Also, I'd take a look at DX10 solutions, you will be much more future proofed with a DX10 card.

nah bout Dx 10 that aint a problem , i am waiting to for the 8950Gx2 to come out if they will and prolly will sli them if possible but if a 7900gs sli is possible i will look wheter it is worth the money but i like the idea of a 7600 sli anyway i still have time bfore the buying starts

I had a pair of 7600GS cards in SLI (mine were 256mb of memory) and really loved them.

Later you will move up to a really good card and it will be a lot easier to use/sell the 7600GS cards because you didnt pay too much $$ for them. Im sure 2 7900 cards would be good too but its 2 times the $$ and I dont think they are twice as good.

yep mark i am planning a pair of those beauties in sli

well maybe i might save up a few $$ for the massive rig i am planning to get in september if the 8950 gx2 would have been released by then
 
good idea, we seem to be in the middle of a jump in technology. Best to wait to see whats coming up. And the 7600s in SLI will let you play till then.

yeah i think i will do the 7600 sli , but i was reading a forum and said sli is not worthed unless you play high res is that true?
