as the title says, i need some speakers, the ones i have now hum a lot which nothing playing, and it does my head in, i want good bass, ideally with a remote volume/bass control, any ideas? running on a xonar dg, i cant justify spending more than that. so be gentle!!

EDIT: i listen to alsorts of music, mainly electronic/dubstep. hence the bass needed

Wavemaster MX3 or Microlab M700U imo.

The latter come with a full on wireless remote, although are also the more expensive set. The Wavemasters come with just the wires volume knob for on your desk (with headphone jack).

I recommend the MicroLabs FC330. I have one, great for how much its worth. They're going around for around £40-£60. Just look around.

only problem with 330's is the volume is on the sub, cant afford the m700u, am currently looking into the mx3+, have you had hands on? how they sound?

ps, thanks for the fast responses

I have personally owned MX3+s and they're probably the best desktop speakers I have ever owned for the money, before I moved up to studio monitors.

Must admit though, for €50 they barely sounded worse than Behringer MS16s that I paid €70 for at the time, although the latter don't have a sub.

Found a picture back of them on my old desk! They do come with mesh covers, but I didn't find it made much difference sound quality wise and I think this looked better!

thank you Feronix for recommending em

I use wavemaster moody 2.1, treble and bass control on sub unit, 3.5 jack, remote wired control with mic and audio jack input. good points, super super loud, I never put them over 30% on controler and windows audio at 25-50%, clear sounds, bass and treble adjustments, look nice with and w/o guards. bad points, it has weird power delivery problem where if speakers are below 20-30% ish on volume control only left speaker will play, it can be a good feature or super annoying when want to listen to something quieter, the blue led on controler is super bright and cant be disable unless you rip it out, I hate lights/noises at night, often I cover it with a micro cloth I have around to stop the LED.

if I recall it was around £60 on overclockers.co.uk

^Pretty sure I put a tiny square bit of black tape on mine and it didn't look too bad.

Glad you like them Garih! :)

Sorry to hi-jack your thread a little here but...

For the past couple of years I have been using a set of Logitech X-530s (5.1 but I use them in 2.1). Recently only the right speaker has worked so I have been looking for a decent set of speakers to replace them. Originally I was going to get the Z506's but I figured I could get a better set of 2.1's for the same price or cheaper.

I was also thinking of getting the MX3+ speaker set, but I was just wondering if there is anything better as I am willing to spend a little more than £50 for a really good set (Just not SP2500 good :P)
