Home entertainment streaming giant Netflix has revealed its four-quarter earnings of 2014.

Fourth-quarter earnings of $0.72 per share on revenues of $1.48 billion were reported, compared to analyst earnings forecasts of $0.45 per share on revenue of $1.48 billion. Revenues rose from $1.18 billion a year ago, while EPS climbed $0.29. For fiscal 2014, Netflix reported earnings of $4.32 per share on revenues of $5.55 billion, compared to $1.85 per share in earnings and revenues of $4.4 billion in fiscal 2013.

Netflix has been reaching many more homes recently, with 4.33 million new subscribers in the fourth-quarter of 2014 alone beating it's previous expectation of 4 million for the same time period. Netflix now has a total of 57.4 million subscribers streaming some of the best content available, with new movies and series constantly being added to better the service and pull in more customers.

The streaming service's shares rose as a result of the strong earnings and streaming-subscriber additions, going up as much as 16 per cent in after-hours trading.

"Our international expansion strategy over the last few years has been to expand as fast as we can while staying profitable on a global basis. Progress has been so strong that we now believe we can complete our global expansion over the next two years, while staying profitable, which is earlier than we expected. We then intend to generate material global profits from 2017 onwards," Netflix said.

Netflix has now disclosed plans to shareholders to expand to 200 countries by 2017, a huge increase from the 50 countries that are able to access the service at present. It will expand to Australia and New Zealand at the end of this quarter and is still exploring options for entering China.

Additionally Netflix has announced it will begin streaming Sony's infamous 'The Interview' from Saturday 24th January at no additional cost.

It seems Netflix has come on leaps and bounds in a short period of time, and now has a home in modern Smart TV's such as Samsung's through a built-in app, with some providing 4K playback.

I tried the free month but found most shows that I like (Friends, Scrubs, That '70s Show, Hawaii Five-0, Bones, etc) are all not even available in the Netherlands. Of course it's easy to trick, although they're now actively trying to combat this, but hmeh.

They said they have no intention to prevent it after those rumours.

Then still I don't think it's worth paying for a service if you have to use workarounds to be able to actually enjoy it. In that case I don't think they deserve my money tbh.

Well I can't comment on your region of course, but for the UK it's definitely getting better.

The Netflix Original content is more than worth the asking monthly price.

They also have a ton of other great shows (e.g. Sons of Anarchy) to keep you hooked.
