Need DDR3 mobo

Hey guys

I'm building an gaming pc for my friend and he wants a mobo with DDR3. reason for that he don't want to upgrade the mobo every 2 years like I do.

so can you recommend me a good mobo that uses at least ddr3 1333 price tag no more then 150 euro.

I would strongly recommend that you wait. The Intel i7 CPUs will be out very soon (within a months time) and they are going to have four cores with 8 threads (like the Intel Pentium 4 HT but MUCH more advanced ;)), it requires a new LGA1366 motherboard, and it supports DDR3 with a triple channel support, up to 24GB of RAM but that isn't the point.

They are estimated to be around €150 - €250+ I would think, maybe it is best to wait and see.

Correct.

Intel i7 is perfect for someone who wants a decent system without upgrading it every year or so.
 
LOL at least a year? It will last for another two to three years at least.. game programmers are only just beginning to use dual cores to their advantage, and now you nearly have a CPU with 4 cores (but 8 virtually) so when are they going to use the technology to expand in to that? In a long time to come to be honest because it isn't ethical for them to start designing games for Quad cores only. It will hammer the people who are on the duals and also, it will take a lot longer and it is going to cost a lot more money to develop games engines to be able to use them to its full potential.

I have even heard claims of this Intel i7 OCing to 3.6 - 4GHz on air.. I would wait for some trusted sites to do some reviews on it though, come on OC3D! :)

This CPU is currently waiting for the motherboard makers to get their X58 chipset motherboards ready, Intel are ready to ship out their CPUs but the motherboards are not finished yet, so it is best to launch them at the same time which makes sence ;)

Intel self has done that they toke 3.6ghz cp u and oc to 4.1ghz on air so if you go with water how far cant it then go 4,6 Ghz or higher ?? anyone an idea???
 
It is all down to what the CPU can handle. If the volts are going to have to be pushed up too high then it won't be safe, it isn't just the temperatures as I am sure you are well aware of :rolleyes:

Dual cores hold their weight on photo editing programs. But yeah, generally the quad core range can multitask more than the dual core range.

They're powerhouses. They can also be used for different tests, programs and whatnot.

The majority of people who buy i7 will be majorly dissapointed IMO. I'm just waiting for the prices of the newer motherboards and graphics cards to go down, I'm happy enough ATM with my P35 though. :)
 
I am very happy with my P35 too bud. I am also going to be sticking with a Quad core, what is the point in getting virtual cores? LOL

But, they will work effectively and beat us on multi tasking, though I don't personally see the point because MOST gaming programmers are only just starting to utilise Dual core solutions.

I see why Intel are going that way, they are going to be ahead of the gaming market which is a good thing, some times we lagged behind in the good old days :eek:
 
I got my p35 mobo form asus and I'm very hapy with it too.

But how many of us here are doing multitasking ?? 30%?? and just like you sad MadDutchDude pros are just starting to use dual cores so it toke them what about 2 years to get to dual core cpus. then it will take them what another 2 years to get to quad core???
 
Maybe longer bud.

Any ways, I don't see the point in people buying dual cores and OCing them to 4.4GHz on air and within a safe voltage and temp. zone, why not spend the extra little bit and get a 3.8GHz (OCed of course!) Quad? Will last much longer to be honest though you will probably fry your motherboard before you get to use its full potential LOL

agree , i had mine on 3,6Ghz and it was too much power and it was costly my monthly energy bill went like 15% up
 
Well, think about it logically, CPU and GPU are never stressed 100% when in gaming, it is just a fact.

Though we love to push our hardware to the max to get the best possible FPS, it isn't pushed to the max in most cercumstances.

I am running off a 470w PSU and I am not seeing any problems and this PSU is in its 3rd year, so I am not complaining, well done TT :)

The one thing though, I got to get a new PSU for my Quad so that I can have an 8pin 12v connector, though that isn't really a problem to be honest, I need a new one any way when I am going to be drawing so much power from my CPU and also so that I can upgrade to a much more beafy GPU :)
