Hello there,

I'm new on the forum and I must admit I like the vibe here..lol...allot of good info
I have not build a personal rig yet but I've had my share in playing the Frankenstein doctor on my laptop and close friends pc's here and then hahahha..
Me and 2 other buddies of mine are planning to take the leap in finally building our own personal rigs and after a couple of weeks researching parts and trying to puzzle the best system components for our needs with keeping our budget in mind all the while, we came up with some systems stats. We are not all the way sure yet if its the bang for our bucks but that's why we are asking all of you here at over clock3d if we are on the right track and if we overlooked somethings in our systems builds...for example clearance, compatibility, performance etc... etc...all thoughts and advice are much appreciated...Thanks in advance.

p.s We live in the Netherlands

Here are the 3 systems we 3 are planning to build

some initial thoughts:
For system 1
you want a z77 mitx board for better overclocking. There's an asus board with an add-in daughter board for better cpu power delivery. Avoid the black asrock mitx board (i forget the model name) as the socket is too close to the gpu for lots of cpu coolers.

If there's a way to save on other components I would look to scrap the 7770 as it's poor value and drop in a 7850.

for system 2
-you can't overclock a non-k ivybridge *much* so the z77 might not be needed (depends on other features you need).
-750w is overkill for two 7850s + 3770k let alone one 7850
-the h60 is rubbish and a cheaper/comparably priced air cooler will have better temps and be quieter (you can get low profile vengeance ram)

for system 3
-same applies as system 1 for the gpu

edit: just checked the strider psu for system 1 & 2, again overkill. for a 3570k + 7850 setup a 450w psu would be more than enough (7850 max power draw ~101 watts)
The quality of psus can drop off a bit below 500w I find, but seasonic make some good units under that off the top of my head.

Wow thanks for that info man, we didn't know all that cool thanks, question for system 1 seeing that a z77 board would be better is this msi board-MSI Z77IA-E53 sufficient because the 2 other asus boards are to expensive.....thanks again

I don't know of many mitx boards but looking at that msi it seems to have the socket very close to the gpu again which can make finding comparable cpu coolers hard. mitx boards are known for having the cpu socket all over the place.

I see you mention rendering, depending on how important you'll find high-end hex core cpu's are better.

The three rigs you are building, are all capable of playing games to some extent; none are exceptional though.

Is each system for one of you? Or do you intend to share.

The one you mention for rendering may struggle though.

Depending on what you render you may find a grx card can be of help; you'll need plenty of memory if that is the case though. Also, NVidia's cuda can be the only system supported so NVidia's cards are a must. They are - imo - mean with the memory in comarrison to amd.

If you're thinking of overclocking build one - you need the Asus P8Z77-i deluxe really.
Half of the others don't even have overclocking options, and the PCIE slot is too close to the CPU socket on pretty much all the other boards.

You need to go for Corsair Hydros for pretty much all of them tbh - and with that, you should be going for H100s on 1 and 2, and something like an H50 on the third just so it's quiet.

This threads going to get really confusing with 3 builds on here...I think a thread for each of them would have been better

hi there thanks for answering, system 1 is my build. System 2 will do more rendering work and play games for time to time, good advice on the 6 core amd combined with an nvidia card. Only this system needs to exel at rendering. Thanks for the info

Hi thanks for answering, and yeah I 've been thinkin of doing just that and going for the z77 board. Sorry for making this threat difficult with these 3 build, sorry for that
