advice on which gpu to buy
hi guys i need some advice once again i know im clown but a novice has to start somewhere.

first of all can you plz explain what to look for in a gpu when buying and what are you guys overclocking on the gpu

im planning on buying two gpu £300 total buget cant afford 670 and 680

motherboard Asus Maximums Formula Thunder FX need to order but still modding the case.

case cooler master cosmos 2

its going to be customized water-cooled top 360 or 420 and 2 dual 240 rads in bottom. dual loop

maybe get 850 corsair ax

function of rig

learning to edit in Photoshop and 3d rendering, gaming, watch movies blue ray and 3d movies

i want to have 3 monitors but because i do 3d stereoscopic rendering and watch 3d movies.

so i was thinking use 2 nividia cards 1 card to run 2 ips monitors and 1 3d montoir or three 3d monitors.

sorry dont no much about monitors

really dont know that's why im asking i know amd do infinity with 1 gpu but not sure about 3d any way i know you guys can advise and recommend me which way to go with explanation to why .

look forward to your advise

1. I'd alway get one highend videocard over 2 midrange, and for £300 you should be able to get a GTX670.

2. OCing is probably not something you should be doing if you don't even know what card to buy, same goes for water cooling.
3. A 360 and one 240 are enough for a CPU and a single GPU, 2 loops only make your rig look worse, too much tubing, there no real performance benefit
4. get a AX650 maybe AX750, the 850 would be overkill

Id pretty much rethink the cooling, and the GPU thing as said above.

Id listen to the members here because your ideas have lots of issues with them.

Buy a better GPU and save money on the cooling which is tbf a bit stupid :p

thanks for the advise

ok il buy the gtx nivida card but which one and do i and which other mid range gpu shall i buy.

what monitors shall i buy will 3 3d monitors be fine for photo editing, gaming or shall i get one specif to editing, one for gaming and one 3d

regarding the water cooling im going to add second gpu card and water cool it,
the motherboard is going to be the asus formula thunder fx which im going to water cool.

the case i have is the cosmos 2 and there enough room for second res so i might aswhile use the second loop it will look awsome the way i have planned it but when the times comes we will see to either go with single or dual loop.

at the moment im modding the case and hopfully get her ready for primer nad paint, also been working on the illumated midplate.

why is it stupid may i ask? is it because the gpu doens t need it?

im just going for water cooling looks i really like

tinytomlogan may i ask if you know here i can get the duplicolor spay paint from the UK ive searched but cant seem to find any retailers in he uk who sell them i even contacted Dupilicolor 3 weeks ago t via email had no joy with reply yet.

i sther any brands or products you could recommend which are reliable in the UK

i need etch primer, sand able primer, enamel paint, and clear coat

If you want to photo edit, a 3D monitor will be absolutely sh**. If you want the best colour reproduction IPS all the way, although you will still have to calibrate the monitor to get the most accurate picture quality.

1. As I said before get a GTX670, or in your case maybe a GTX680 but without water cooling, and what do you mean with this "and do i and which other mid range gpu shall i buy."?

2. for the screens: yassarikhan786 is absolutely right

3. THERE IS NO NEED FOR TWO LOOP, check out tom's youtube videos, he knows exactly what he does and he never installs a dual loop system, nor does anybody else who knows how to water cool

Just read the OP about water cooling -> if you do plan on water cooling in the future, then perhaps the card I linked is not a good option; custom PCB.

im goin gto get the evga gtx 670 FTW because i want to water cool it , i know ips is ideal for Photoshop and 3d 120mhz is ideal for gaming and 3d.

so may question is im ok to add 1 3d montoir and two ips monitors or 2 3d monitors and 1 ips monitor. like i said i need each monitor to furfil my specific tasks i,e photo editing, gaming and watching 3d movies and gaming. so can i do this off the the single gpu i have mentioned if i can then its just the matter of researching on the individually monitors i need.

You can use IPS displays in tandem with 3D displays. Just ensure that a 3D display is set as the primary so that games load on that by default. You can use the IPS as a secondary monitor.

also something else crossed my mind what about the different mhz i.e 3d 120 mhz and ips 60mhz and plus the fact the ips color range is much better then 3d or isnt there much difference dont want it to look odd if you know what i mean.

I hadn't thought about that actually. I forgot that 3D is 120hz. I've read people having lag issues with running 120hz monitors with 60hz monitors, but people have fixed the issues. If you do a quick google search you will see a lot of people having issues, but ultimately solving them.

i asked some the same question in another forum and he replied with

It can't. Unfortunately you can't have the colour reproduction of an IPS panel on a TN 120hz panel and vice-versa (at the moment). You have to pick which you want to go with.

If you're running games across 3 monitors you're also going to consider either dropping settings down to medium/high (instead of maxed out Ultra) with no AA or investing in an SLI set up as one card can start to feel the pain in a Surround set up.

You can run the 120hz screens at 60hz yes but what's the point paying the premium for three 120hz screens and then running them at 60hz to match your IPS screen?

Also taking into consideration that your IPS screen when calibrated is just going to look nicer than the BenQ XL2420T. Don't get me wrong the quality of the BenQ screen is really nice by TN panel standards but it doesn't match an IPS. So you'll be contending with differing picture quality across the screens as well resulting in a set-up which really doesn't have an identity. You've got to go one way or the other in my view I'm afraid.

and i replied back with this

"one solution is to buy 3 ips monitor to use for editing and how they like for gaming the ips and buy additional 3d monitor when i needi t , i can hook it up on its own what you think?

i know its going to be expensive but i dont have any other choice to game , edit and watch 3d movies"

Ask yourself - do you really need 3d on a monitor?

3 IPS screens would look the gonads.

And save money and get 23 inch over 24, cause 1 inch difference saves like £100

if you read the whole thread m8 you l know answer to that, would the ips monitors be ideal for gaming if not its ok becuase im going to get fourth 3d 12omhz monitor to watch 3d movies, gaming and use it for cinema4d r13
