Definitely will have this on my list when upgrading my Mobo, CPU and RAM in the future because my Kingston SSD seems to be getting really slow when booting Windows! I guess the blue PCB is no problem as many new Mobos have a cover acting as a heatsink anyways.

In my Maximus X Hero my NVME drive with the ROG heatsink is about 20c hotter than the NVME withouth a heat sink.

With these specs I'd assume it's a x2 instead of x4, am I right on that? I see the value in x2 drives, but it's not much more to get a pretty fast x4 drive

Probably because it has no fins to dissipate the heat, the M.2 Shield on my MSI board is the same.


Not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed there is no 1TB option for this, otherwise I'd be all over that like a rash. Still great for those who would use M.2 alongside a SATA drive

Yeah, it's connected via only 2 lanes. It also doesn't have a DRAM-Cache and no hardware AES-Encryption, so it might not be suitable for productive environments that have strict information security policies in place.

NAND doesn't mind being a lil hot, but the controller throttles at higher temperatures. And even if the temperatures are consistently higher with the heatsink, the additional thermal mass means that it takes longer to throttle under high loads.
