My poor excuse for a chair is doing my back in!

I've had a lot of back problems over the past year and my chair (excuse of) is actually making it a lot worse. My physiotherapist has recommended I get a better one preferably rated as orthapaedic.

Do any of you guys have one or an equivalent chair that has helped your poor back?

I haven't seen any good prices from any shops (all shops offering them seem to be specialist small shops whereas a larger retail shop would offer them cheaper right?)

Plus the cushion on the bottom has kinda turned to cardboard its so thin...i c an even feel the plastic below sticking into me as the joints - ouchy.

Its actually forcing me to have a break at least every hour :|

Yours in pain

Sam :)

I think i'd rather the type with the backing that constantly goes against your back (adjusts to your posture) by going forward when u lean forward and going back when you lean back. I found with my other chair (executive style) most of the time my back would be nowhere near the back of the seat unless i leant all the way - by which my pc would then be out of reach :/

any chair with good lumba support.

I've just been docs, i have a brused/imflamed diafram, Everytime i breath i get pains just below my ribs front and back. So i know how annoying back pain can be :s

Hope you sort it out.

they make it quite hard to slouch, my mates got one and if you slouch in it you basically hit your face on the keyboard

I think this is quite an important thing for a pc enthusiast actually. I know from my experience, a crappy chair can ruin things and make existing problems unbeareable!

Ham's choice still seems the most ergonomic as that racing chair seems to actually force u to slouch lol....

Im just interested in getting the best for my back atm :/

Although yeh arms do help fight RSI etc. in wrists

I used one of those kneeling chairs for ages. I have a bad back (bike accident) and they are excellent for your posture. Unfortunately I ended up with a case of housemaid's knee!

I've also tried the argos 'car seat leather chair'. Not that ergonomic and it's much too wobbly for racing!

I'd love a new chair, but the one I use is the one my cat sharpens her claws on. If I took it away she'd shred my new leather sofa

mrapoc, you're welcome to my old kneeling chair if you want it. The foam could do with a refresh but it's otherwise sound.

wow cheers clive. welcome to it as in free (plus postage)? pm me where you live please - might be close enuf to pick up if im lucky :p
