My personal overclock... p4 2.6 fsb800

If i tell you this, you're not gonna believe it. my cpu has been running with 2 fans atm, one is a simple thermaltake volcano 7+ that is extremely noisy, and is not the best.... it really SUCK... cpu was running around 47 c, then i just went back to the standard intel cooling fan, that was running the ocmputer at 48c degrees, and that was better, without the noise of course. then i changed to the vantec aerocool for intel p4.... and let me tell u.

cpu has been running for more than a month, computer not being restarted for any reason...

here are the specs

normal: p4 2.6ghz fsb800 512k 1.525v @ 32c idle 42c load

overclock: 3.25ghz fsb1000 1.5625v @ 33c idle 41c load (1 full day runnin prime95)

Strange? yes... don't ask me how or why.... i don't have that answer...

prob room temperatures changing and major conincidence!! i find that room temp is one of the biggest effects on temperature.

I've got a very nice SilenX/Swiftech combo on my CPU now (must change sig. It keeps my CPU at under 30deg all the time, although I am underclocking it at the mo.

Looking forward to getting my decent memory back from its RMA!

I guess Im getting old I just dont get over clocking. Why do it for such a pitiful return in most cases that is.

I run stock cooler however with my antec case I have a 120 mm fan in front and back and with the fan controller I have I can get it pretty cool inside. Have never had any kind of heat related issues and thats with a 6800 oven in it.

there are pretty much only pros to overclocking!! it only voids ur warranty thats the only con i can think of. more speed for free!!! why not?

true but that is what people are here for i hope - to learn some new stuff and become experts on ocing.

I am Underclocking cause my memory is on RMA at the moment and al I got is some really cr@p 256 single sided RAM (PC3200 DDR400) and my mobo doesn't like it being 200FSB. Its a 2.2 usually, but cause I've got it at 166, its rning at 1.8.

I'm waiting for my RAM to be RMA'd at the supplier (Crucial PC3200 DDR400) and if they find faults (I think they will) then they're willing to swap it for OCZ PC3200 DDR400 Platinum EL D Chan. Nice! :-)

Until then, the cr@p RAM will only seem to work @ 166 as my mobo is a picky bugger!

Which motherboard are u using? and which processor?

That also depends, not only on the memory, maybe there is a setting that is not making the system recognize the memory correctly, and if that´s the problem, maybe, u send good ram to rma...

and believe me, that happens.

On my side, is normal temp, from 29 to 34 c

Look in my sig...no really: do....lol :)

Tried all the settings that the RAM should be on and after extensive and very frustrating testing I had to send it back. And if you know about the MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum you'll know just how picky it is. The old RAM ws screwed, Prime 95 failed after less than a minute on loads of diferent settings tried. Even tightened up all the timings and put them on the factory standard as well. Suffice to say I tried a lot. The firm I bought them from even suggested BIOS settings and they didn't work. They told me to send them back to them for testing and if they find problems they'll RMA it. That's:

www.kustompcs.co.uk

Their customer service at its best I tell ya!! :o

hope you get it back soon :boink:

:worship:

Nice motherboard, yes i'm familiar with that motherboard.

Is one of the best for socket a, but the strange part is that you're using a 200mhzx2 cpu, and the memory is ddr400, and is not taking any memory at ddr400...

strange... very strange...
