well comp just died. everything shut off and it wont turn on. tried clearing CMOS, unplugging power cable and removing cpu and booting. nothing happends when i press power button.

my mobo light comes on so does this mean that my mobo is still working? i think i will have to buy a new cpu and mobo cos the thermal tape on the cpu was looking very thin when i took it out but i never got to see the temps before it turned off.

i am thinking it is mobo because i dont even get a power light when i turn on, no beeps or anything.

because mobo light comes on does this mean psu is ok??

please help me guys, i need to isolate the problem.

mod in need :(

What exactly happens when you hit the power switch?

It could be a number of things... vid card, cpu, mobo, or your ram.

onboard vid :(

no activity lights at all... is it mobo??

Quite possibly, especially if the onboard gpu dies, then ur up shit creek w/o a paddle. Luckily mobo's are cheap, get a new one and see if it fixes the problem :)

This is a wonderful moment! Now is the time to ditch that Celery shit and get a real computer!

Go poke your parents with pointy sticks :stickpoke

You the herbert dude? Go rob PC World or something :p

No no, you want AMD or Intel, cos AMD will be a hell of a lot cheaper for a nice buget system...

Also - SATA or not SATA?

If you get a nForce 2 System, if you can find it, the MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR nForce2 400 Ultra board is the cats pajamas.

ok the mobo light goes on but it doesnt start or post:

>check CMOS jumpers

>check Cmos Batt

>Check power switch works

>check power suply connections to mobo

>remove some deives that require power but are not neccessary to get to win (eg xtra ram optical drives pci cards) and tri 2 boot if it boots ut ps is too weedy

> check power supply - use another one to see if it works

> did u flash ur bios wrongly as this will cause these effects!
