My pc = DEAD?

Errrr...im kinda scared right now

Just back from a lan at a friends house and set my pc up like usual only im using a new mutligangway electrical thingy (surgeprotector etc.) i go to turn it on...it literally turns on for a millisecond (all lights up) then turns off. I tried a different cable in the psu...same thing. I tried plugging pc into a socket on its own...same thing. I checked all cables inside and its all dandy. Shall i just turn off the psu and disconnect cable for a while? eeek

Looking at your profile you have a P5B dlx?

Hate too say it but sounds like random bios ding syndrome:(

You better be kidding me :\

It was working at 12:30 today....

Anyway to rule this out? ohh man :(

Do i get error beeps or anything? I get nothing. Its literally light up, turn off. THen does nothing when i press the power on unless i leave the psu turned off for about 20 seconds, turn it back on and it does the same.

tried the unpluging the psu, turning psu switch to on, pressing power button, turning psu switch to off, plugging psu back in, waiting 5 seconds, turn psu back on, then press power button idea? :)

Still turns on for like a millisecond dude :( Just enough for cooler to spin up light up and instantly turn off

I think resetting bios should do. try putting CMOS jumper into the other position. Or if you cant find one, just take the battery out for a couple of secs (10) and see if it helps. If not then, might be a psu problem me thinks.

Man that sucks best of luck with it, only thing I did once was take out all the stuff gpu and ram and using a can of compressed AIR, clean the slots out.

Elven may have a solution but before you do that Check Cards Ram etc are connected firmly it's possible one has come loose in Transit.

Ok guys very good news

Dont ask me how/why this happened

Took pc upstairs to my bedroom as i felt the downstairs plugs near pc were faulty

Took the side of laid it sideways, fiddled around inside pushing everything in

Plugged it in and it ran for 30 seconds then turned off...i thought well..thats better

Turned it on again and it booted...erm right

Im happy but still confused??

Right honestly I am more sure I am right now.

I'd get a can of compressed air and remove the GPU and Ram and any other leads connecting to your motherboard and clean the ends of the lead and the connectors on the motherboard to ensure a good connection.

I'd say you have a near brush with an Asus P965 death. Seen it on 3 boards and you had all the symptoms ;)

Jeeeeeze was I that close?

Thanks for everyone who participated int his thread - is there a way to quickly give reps to all? :)

Erm a pc laying on it`s side and then upright and works can be something is moving about on a small scale.

U can get this with systems that are on 24/7 then u move them.

Glad it`s working now tho ;)
