Here are all my specs.

Biostar TFORCE6100-939

Geilone TCCD 2x 512mb

opteron 148.

XFX 7900gs

I have 1.45 voltage going to my cpu

2.7 going to ram.

my ram i set at 166 in bios but in cpuz it says it is running at 204

My multi is 11 and my fsb is 256 so that is like 2860.

my ram timings are one auto and they are the following... 2-3-3-5

I tried orthos and it went unstable after like 5 minutes..... im guessing it it my ram??

i would like to stay about 2.8 what do i need to do to make this puppy stable??

My cooling is a hyper 6+ and my idle temps are 33 and when i was using orthos, it didn't go past 48

i loosened the timeings to 2.5-3-3-8 and put it to 100mhz 1t to see it if it my cpu that is making it unstable..

i tried orthos and it stopped like like 6 minutes... I upped the voltage from 1.475 yo 1.5 for the cpu and am currently running orthos.

Edit: The 1.5 volts seemed to have fixed the problem... i ran orthos for 10 minutes... and counting... im going to try to raise my mem back up.

Edit #2: Well i put he ram to 166 and timings at 3-3-3-8 and it wasn't stable... now for the heck of it, im trying 100 and 3-3-3-8 and lowered my cpu to 155 instead of 156..

Edit #3: Well it seems to be stable while my ram is running at 100 but 130 in cpuz... my timings are 3-3-3-8.. what is going on?? this ram is suppose to be good stuff... i cant get it to 166 without it going unstable.... can someone guide me to the next step?

i never tried 2t... i heard u get a pretty big gain if it is 1t.. and 2.9 is the max for my ram..

i went to 100, then 133, now im at 166.. and it seems to be running stable.. timings are 3-3-3-8 and 1t with 2.9 volt

hey what heat sink are u using for ur cpu? first id loosen ur memory timings and forget about the memory and max ur cpu clock. 1.45 is about avg for most 148 to get to 2.8, personally id bump it up a lil. Use Superpim 32M to bench the cpu to see if its stable. U can use prime and do like an 8hr test for *sure* stablility. Once u get ur max cpu clock, lower the timings and raise the divider if possible, u can bench it again, but i usually play CS:S (because its so heavily bound to the mem) and if its no good ull know in about 3-10min of playing. anyways gl and hope ya get a good oc out of it.

edit : just skipped the hiper 6+.

ok well here is my currect oc... I can't seem to oc my cpu very far for some reason.

Cpu is at 2.75 from 2.2 with 1.45 voltage

ram is at 275mhz from 200with 2.5-3-3-5 1Twith 2.9 voltage....

is that a decent oc?

try and go for 3ghz, you can up the volt to 1.55, but that would be the max imo

but with 1.5, u should hit 2.9

yes thats a very good OC. Try it with the voltage a little lower.

And with all respect to Darkorb since this is your FIRST build and you have no $$$ to get new stuff if you mess up what you have be happy that you have a "Kick Butt" comp.:wavey:

To put that into perspective, you paid LESS for your whole comp(including 7900GS) than just buying a FX57 cpu a few mos. ago.

i tried 2.9 but i couldn't get it stable.... im guessing it is my cooling... 2.85 looks pretty stable.. now im going to tune my ram timings to work with it.

Well, it really depends on how much of a difference there is between the two speeds you achieve. Just find your max for tight timings and your max for loose timings and run SuperPi for each to see which is faster. Run like 3 times and average.

I was messing with 2.85 it seemed stable, so i went to tighten my ram timings one by one, and i restarted, it went unstable, so I restarted and put the timings back. I restarted again and it went past post and would not boot windows. I messed with the timings again and restarted and it still would not boot into windows. I set everything back to default, and it still would not boot into windows. I took out the battery and cleared the CMOS and it still would not boot into windows. All that happens after post is a black screen.

well ur cpu is running which is a good thing, b/c u can still get into bios, i doubt its ur memory unless it foobared half way. do u have memtest?
